Publicity and Communication

These are the means of publicity and communication which are used by the PCC and the church with an indication of the planning cycle required

Cards

Christmas cards

A card is deleivered to each house in the village. It contains a list of Christmas services. The card needs to be delivered before the first of those services, which may well be in early December. There is a group of deliverers who each cover a patch. They are managed by Lesley and the Wardens. In order to get the cards to the deliveres in time the copy for the printers needs to be approved by very early November.

Planning needs to start in September, including finalising dates, times, etc. for Christmas services.

Easter cards

These are similar to the Christmas cards but for Holy Week and Easter. They need to be delivered before the beginning of Holy Week so should perhaps aim to have them available for deliverers by Passion Sunday.

Planning needs to start by the beginning of lent.

Leaflets

Leaflets (single tri-fold A4 sheets) are also distributed with the Christmas cards and Easter cards. The planning cycle is longer than for the cards as the content varies from and would normally be aimed to pick up or communicate one or more themes.

Magazine

The magazine is edited by Mike Moss.
It is printed by a commercial printer and distributed by a team of distributors organised by Jill and Martin Parker.

Contributions have to be submitted to the editor by a date given each month, usually just before the middle of the preceding month.

It is then printed and delivered to the Parkers by the Thursday before the last Saturday of the month to be batched up and given to the distributors by the Saturday. It should then be delivered to the subscribers before the end of the month.

A total of 420 magazines are printed each month of which 390 are delivered to subscribers, who pay £7.50 per annum. The remainder are placed in the church for sale at 65 pence each (included in the wall safe donations). (The numbers were correct in 2016).

Weekly Notice Sheet

This is produced by Lesley Jones. It is in church on Sunday for those who attend to read and take away. A copy is also put on the porch notice board. It includes a diary of services and events from Sunday to Sunday. It also includes the collect and readings for the Sunday communion services. Information and notices to be included need to be provided to Lesley preferably by the preceding Thursday although she is normally able to accept late additions, even until the Saturday.

Lesley also produces the sheets which include the collect and readings for the Wednesday morning communion services.

Notice boards

There are various notice boards. There are two by the wall of the churchyard facing the raod. One permanently shows details of personnel and services and the other with glass doors displays various notices. There is also a similar board outside the vicarage.

There are notice boards in the porch and also inside the church.

Welcome table

There are two tables at the back of the church. One is designated the welcome table and the other is the big one which has lots of things on it.

Church website

There is a website which is currently maintained by Geoffrey Dann. The web hosting company we use also provides facilities for email accounts and mailing lists, which we use. The website uses WordPress.

There is a section of the website (technically two separate websites) which is principally for PCC members, which is being maintained by Geoffrey Dann. Some of the content of that section is resticted to members of the PCC, who have to log in to addess those pages.

Facebook

There is a Facebook page (if that’s the right word) which is maintained by Maureen Hobbs and Kate Hore.

Church Calendar

A church calendar has been created using Google Calendar. It is publicly available (and is on the church website). The intention is that all services, meetings and events which are held in the church or are church events should be included. Geoffrey Dann, Maureen Hobbs and the Churchwardens are able to add, amend and delete entries.

Access to this page is available to everybody.
