Century Club change of administrator

Steve hands over Century Club role after 17 years

Steve Jones was talking to the Rev John Daimond over a pint in the Crown pub in Pattingham, following a PCC meeting, when John suggested a Century Club would be a good idea. Steve agreed, offered to t ake the role of running it – and in 17 and a hlaf years since, it has paid out £62,000 in prize funds and raised more than £35,000 for St Chadf’s Church funds.

Now, however, Steve has decided that it is time to step back and conducted his last draw at the end of December.

The Vicar and members of the PCC are all very grateful for the hard work that Steve has put in; without his drive and enthusiasm the Club would not have flourished in the way that it has.

Alan Smith, of Cherry Cottage, Marlbrook Lane, has taken on the role of running the Club and he can be contacted by telephone on 07757 688518 or on the club’s email address

As the name suggests the Century Club consists of 100 members, each paying £60 per year (£5 per month). A draw is held once at month with three prizes (£150, £100 and £50) being won: better odds than the lottery.

The Club does have some vacancies at the moment, so if you would like the chance to win some money while helaping the Church then ask Alan about joining.
