ChadNet - the eBulletin of St Chad's Church, Pattingham
        with Patshull

Welcome to this week’s edition of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.

In this week’s ChadNet:

We are returning to something closer to normal.
It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church.
The church doors will remain closed during services to help to keep the church warm.
In the pews by the wall of the South Aisle we will continue to ask that social distancing be maintained so that those who wish to maintain social distancing can do so.
Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.

‘The Circle of life…’

I look around the beautiful countryside surrounding Pattingham and I give praise for God’s wonderful creation. In doing so, I also am aware of the cycle of change from season to season, bringing us through the year. There must be change, in order for life to continue and to flourish. Just as nature adapts the growing season to temperature, and farmers adapt their harvesting times to suit the crops, we must be responsive to what is around us. Just as gardeners and farmers need to plan for the changing seasons, we need to prepare our hearts and minds for change in our church. The biggest change is waiting, hoping, praying and yearning for a new Vicar; someone who will want to be with us, to share our journey and to lead us. We, like the gardeners and farmers, have to be patient but we must also be active. We must keep looking outwardly to respond to the needs of others; continue to pray and keep Christ at the centre of all we do.

When we are feeling unsettled by the change around us; when we feel disheartened by the speed of progress; when we feel a sense of loss, so strong, it seems to sap all our energy, we must remember the words of the wonderful hymn ‘Abide with me’, written by a Scottish Anglican Henry Francis Lyte in 1847:
‘O Thou who changest not, abide with me….’

God is with us always and remains unchanged, supporting us through all our grief, joy and the uncertainties life brings. Join us in church, share your story with us in a ‘View from the Pews’, but most of all, pray, because God is listening and you are not alone.

God Bless.
