Dedication of the new cupboards at the back of church.
At the evening service on Easter Sunday, we had a very pleasant duty to perform when we dedicated the new cupboards donated by James and Elizabeth Gosling.
Some time ago now James and Elizabeth indicated that they would like to make a donation to the church in thankfulness for their 60 years of married life together. They had looked at the corner of the church below the Adam and Eve window and thought it looked very untidy and decided that a nice cupboard would prove both useful and decorative. So, they decided to pay for this to be done. We are extremely grateful for their donation and apologise for the length of time it has taken to fulfil their request.
However, these fine oak cupboards are now finished and thanks to James and Elizabeth the new tiling has also been installed in front of them. It definitely adds considerably to the appearance of the back of the church.
James and Elizabeth have been coming to St Chad’s for 50 years and their first Sunday was an Easter Sunday so it was very appropriate that the dedication should be on Easter Sunday this year. They have contributed something to the church that will last far longer than 50 years and will be used by future generations.
They were accompanied at the service by members of their family who had grown up in Pattingham many years ago and attended St. Chad’s.
So, we were able to give thanks for their 60 years of marriage and ask God’s blessing on the cupboards, praying that they will be used to enhance the work and witness of St Chad’s for many years to come.
