Holy Week and Easter 2017

Join us as we mark the events leading up the Our Lord’s Crucifixion and then His Resurrection.

  • Palm Sunday – 9th April
    • Our Lord’s entry into Jerusalem riding on a donkey
      • 8.00 am Holy Communion
        • a said service of about 35 minutes using the Book of Common Prayer
      • 10.00 am Family Communion
        • a service of about 60 minutes with hymns, using Common Worship
          with a Dramatised Reading of the Passion according to Matthew (with participation of entire congregation) and no sermon
      • 6.30 pm Evensong
        • a relaxed service of about 45 minutes with hymns using the Book of Common Prayer
  • Monday of Holy Week – 10th April
    • 7.30 pm Meditation and Night Prayer (Compline)
      • a short meditative service
  • Tuesday of Holy Week – 11th April
    • 7.30 pm Meditation and Night Prayer (Compline)
      • a short meditative service
  • Wednesday of Holy Week – 12th April
    • 10.00 amĀ  Holy Communion
      • a said service of about 45 minutes using the Book of Common Prayer
      • followed by “Drop In” for tea/coffee and cake
    • 7.30 pm Meditation and Night Prayer (Compline)
      • a short meditative service
  • Maundy Thursday – 13th April
    • The Last Supper and Our Lord’s betryal and arrest
      • 7.30 pm Holy Communion and Stripping of the Altars
        • a service of Holy Communion with Hymns using Common Worship
        • to commemorate the Last Supper and the Institution of the Eucharist
        • followed by the removal of the hangings and decorations leaving the altars bare for Good Friday
  • Good Friday – 14th April
    • the Crucifixion and Death of Jesus
      • 10.00 am to 12 noon Messy Church
        • for children and parents including the building of the Easter Garden
      • 2.00 pm Final Hour at the Cross
        • a service of hymns, prayers and meditation to mark the last hour of Our Lord’s crucifixion
  • Easter Day – 16th April
    • The Resurrection of Jesus
    • He is Risen! Alleluia!
      • 8.00 am Holy Communion
        • a said service of about 35 minutes using the Book of Common Prayer
      • 10.00 am Family Communion with Renewal of Baptism Vows
        • a service of about 60 minutes with hymns, using Common Worship
        • followed by coffee and a chat
      • 6.30 pm Evensong
        • a relaxed service of about 45 minutes with hymns using the Book of Common Prayer

All services will be held in St. Chad’s Church, Pattingham.
