The Pump Organ was popular centuries ago because it was more portable than pipe Organs . Being most popular between 1850-1930 it worked by pushing air past a piece of thin metal called a reed. It can be heard in the work of many Classical Artists from Debussy to Bach to Franz Liszt.

The Pump Organ was eventually replaced by the Electric Organ in Church. However it is still used in Indian Music being incorporated in many Hindu and Sikh songs. Also it has been used in Pop Music particularly The Beatles

Once my father no longer needed my assistance at the Organ I joined the Church Choir. I sang in my first performance of Handel’s Messiah at the age of fourteen and I still enjoy singing in this wonderful Oratorio.

My interest in Music continued at High School, playing violin and piano in the Orchestra and singing in the Choir.

When I left school I joined a Folk Group singing Classic Folk Songs. I really enjoyed this but once I embarked on my Nurse Training I had to stand down and was only able to join them as shifts allowed.Throughout all of this and growing up during the “Swinging Sixties “ I continued to take part in Choral and Church Choir singing.
Singing is such a large part of worshipping God and singing in a four part Choir brings such joy!

If you feel you would like to join us new members would be made very welcome.
