Six stations were set up to share the experience from Palm Sunday to the glorious day of resurrection. Each one is depicted below, visited in small groups of pupils.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Palm Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-1_320x180.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-1_320x180.png\" alt=\"Palm Sunday\" class=\"wp-image-10563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-1_320x180.png 320w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-1_320x180-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We all remember the story of Jesus\u2019 entry into Jerusalem, with a telling of everyone waving palm leaves, filled with excitement and hope that Jesus would drive the Romans out. Of course Jesus was intent on bringing peace in a different way. And to help wave the palm leaves the children taught us a new song \u201cHosanna\u201d which we repeated during the Palm Sunday service.<br><br><strong>Washing the disciples\u2019 feet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-2_320x234.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"234\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-2_320x234.png\" alt=\"Washing the disciples\u2019 feet\" class=\"wp-image-10564\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-2_320x234.png 320w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-2_320x234-300x219.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We acted this out, but by shoe cleaning! first their own and then someone else\u2019s shoe. All to show Jesus\u2019 words of setting an example to the disciples of humility and service. All years were very knowledgeable and asked some very searching questions here, including the nature of the Trinity. We were reminded that the disciples fell asleep while Jesus prayed, we considered how alone Jesus was at this time and discussed the idea of loneliness and how Jesus was in deep prayer at this time.<br><br><strong>The Cross<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-5_320x240.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-5_320x240.png\" alt=\"The Cross\" class=\"wp-image-10561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-5_320x240.png 320w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-5_320x240-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The cross was treated as the symbol of hope and a display of different crosses was assembled, the pupils made up their own cross and were invited to count the number of crosses in our church. How many? You\u2019d be surprised. The answers ranged from 31 to 134\u2026\u2026 a definitive answer is yet to materialise\u2026\u2026<br><br><strong>Resurrection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-6_320x191.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-6_320x191.png\" alt=\"Resurrection\" class=\"wp-image-10562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-6_320x191.png 320w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Exp-Easter-image-6_320x191-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And lastly, the joy of the resurrection, the empty tomb and the arrival of the two women, greeted by the angel and then by the risen Christ who told them to go back and tell the disciples the good news.<br><br>We had a fantastic two days of engaging with all the pupils and staff. All years showed a lively enthusiasm for all the stations visited, took part wholeheartedly in all the activities and gave brilliant answers and descriptions to all aspects. The extent of knowledge was impressive. Anyone interested in finding out about ringing should contact Geoffrey Dann or any of the ringers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Tuesday <\/strong><strong>Prayers for Peace<\/strong> will be said in church at <strong>6 pm<\/strong>. Prayers for Peace now takes place on Tuesdays only during the winter months. Please do join us and if you would like more information or are willing to lead a session, please contact Mary Hayward (<a href=\"mailto:maryleah@hotmail.co.uk\">maryleah@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>)<em><strong>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at <strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by Revd James Makepeace, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open<strong> from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. The church heating will be on so those attending will be warm as well as receiving a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday <\/strong>is the <strong>copy date<\/strong> for the March magazine. The wishing well is also at the back of the church if you have any spare loose change. Donations, however small, go towards running costs.
