She is now 81 and has become an integral part of life in Claverley and our own social life. So she has settled extraordinarily well. Her daughter has moved on to Herefordshire but Mum has remained because she is happy and content to stay here among her new friends.

This made me wonder why this part of the world is so friendly and welcoming. People make places and we are surrounded by the most amazing folks.

Michael and I have lived in Shropshire/Staffordshire all our lives and have gathered a huge array of friends from many walks of life. AND WE ARE BLESSED. But I do realise there are many people less fortunate who are lonely for whatever reason.

Pattingham Church is the epitome of a most welcoming Church including the monthly ‘Who’s for lunch?’ which beautifully fills a gap for those who wish to feel part of the community.

Michael and I have had cause to be eternally grateful to our friends in the last few months. Their kindness and support has been strengthening and often surprisingly so – you know that warm fuzzy feeling when someone cares by doing or saying something that is just right but unexpected.

I get that warm fuzzy feeling when I think of our Church- the people who are gallantly running it during Interregnum and the diverse congregation who worship there.

Sue Stirk

Would you like to write a View from the Pews?

We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one, It does not need to be on any particular subject.
