Like many grandmothers I am often called upon to help look after grandchildren for various reasons, often at very short notice. All of them live a distance away &#8211; two lots in London, and one in Cheltenham. Although I can drive quite easily to Cheltenham, I have given up driving to London as it has become too stressful now what with congestion charges and the new ULEZ expansion scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I now travel there by train and let the train take the strain as they say. Except it doesn\u2019t always! Due to the recent spate of rail strikes, I often find myself waiting for the train that never comes. When I eventually manage to board one to Euston I then face the tube, followed by a bus ride, each bringing its own complications. When I eventually arrive at my daughter\u2019s house I am pretty stressed, which leads me to this week\u2019s ChadNet theme &#8211; Stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all face stress in our lives in one way or another, and we all deal with it differently. Some take up yoga, or running, or some other physical activity. For others enjoying a good book, or maybe just sitting in the garden listening to the birds helps. For my own part the best way to relieve the stresses that life brings is by attending Evensong. Just the sound of that beautiful word is calming for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love this service, which I look on as a winding down time at the end of a busy week. In fact the definition of Evensong according to English Cathedrals is \u2018a service in church that provides a restful, peaceful and contemplative time at the evening point of the day.\u2019 I have attended many Evensong services in various churches, but for me the one at our own St. Chad&#8217;s is the one that most typifies that definition. After a wonderful service led by either Ken or Iain, both doing sterling work during this prolonged period of interregnum, I leave refreshed and ready for whatever challenges the coming week may bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wish you all a stress free summer holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barbara Inett<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"would-you-like-to-write-a-view-from-the-pews\">Would you like to write a View from the Pews?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one, It does not need to be on any particular subject.
