It\u2019s proven to have physical and mental health benefits. Next Sunday, 9th June, has been designated as Music Sunday by the RSCM (the Royal School of Church Music) and this is basically a celebration of the role of music and music makers in Church worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, Churches are encouraged to hold a big hymn sing and RSCM members have recently taken part in a survey about their favourite hymns and not only that, a new hymn has been written especially for Music Sunday by Gordon Giles and Thomas Hewitt Jones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the plan is that both services on 9th June will include almost all of the top 10 hymns and I\u2019m sure that your favourite will be included &#8211; the only thing is that you might need to attend both services to make sure you don\u2019t miss it! I\u2019m hoping that the Choir will also sing the new hymn \u2018Sing to the Lord A New Song of Creation\u2019 at both services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll leave you to guess which was the most favourite hymn\u2026although it wasn\u2019t the one I expected\u2026Even if your personal favourite has not been included, you will be able to join in knowing that, for many people, these are favourite expressions of faith and praise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep singing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin Fox<br>Organist and Choir Leader<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Would you like to write a View from the Pews?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one. The contractors will be working in and around the church. The church and churchyard will remain open but please take care while using them. Access to the toilets will be kept unlocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Monday<\/strong> the <strong>funeral<\/strong> of <strong>Trevor Reynolds<\/strong> takes place. The burial will be in the churchyard at 1.30 pm followed by a memorial service at West Park Chapel, Wolverhampton at 2.30 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Tuesday <\/strong><strong>Prayers for Peace<\/strong> will be said in church at <strong>6 pm<\/strong>. Please do join us and if you would like more information or are willing to lead a session, please contact Mary Hayward (<a href=\"mailto:maryleah@hotmail.co.uk\">maryleah@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at <strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by Revd Paul Brown, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open<strong> from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. Those attending will receive a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6 pm<\/strong> the <strong>Pattingham Shower Singers<\/strong> meet in church. All are welcome &#8211; just come and sing and have fun!
