This service, which we hope attracts younger family groups, is led by different &#8216;Teams&#8217; on a rota basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/about-us\/young-people\/sunday-school\/\">Sunday School<\/a> is held on the second Sunday of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the third Sunday of the month the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/about-us\/young-people\/youth-service\/\">Youth Service<\/a> is led by young people. It is followed by a Eucharist for those who wish to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/about-us\/young-people\/holiday-club\/\">Holiday Club<\/a> is held in August and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/about-us\/young-people\/messy-church\/\">Messy Church<\/a> takes place from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"christingle-service\">Christingle Service<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Christingel06-01.gif\" alt=\"Christingles\" class=\"wp-image-518\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In December there is a Christingle Service. This special service, which takes place just before Christmas is an ancient Moravian custom (first held on Christmas Day in 1747) which celebrates the coming of Christmas &#8211; families gather together at their local Church and the children are given Christingles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"137\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Christingel06-02.gif\" alt=\"Christingle\" class=\"wp-image-519\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christingle&#8230;<br>The orange represents the World and God&#8217;s creation &#8211; fruits and sweets on the four cocktail sticks remind us of the seasons of the Earth &#8211; the red ribbon represents the Blood of Christ and God&#8217;s love for us in the death and resurrection of Jesus &#8211; and the candle represents God&#8217;s love in sending Jesus &#8220;the light of the World&#8221; to be with us always.<br>The Children&#8217;s Society introduced the Christingle into the Church of England in 1968.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-full wp-image-520\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Pic2008-01.gif\" alt=\"Christingle Service 24th December 2008\" class=\"wp-image-520\"\/><figcaption>Christingle Service 24th December 2008<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"easter-garden\">Easter Garden<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"234\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/EasterGarden07.gif\" alt=\"Easter garden\" class=\"wp-image-521\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Easter Garden is built in St Chad&#8217;s Church on Good Friday by the children of Pattingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They constructed the Tomb, stone by stone and brought flowers in the colours of red, purple white and blue, the colours of mourning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the side of the Tomb is the herb, rosemary for Remembrance. On the Green Hill are three crosses, one for Jesus and two for the thieves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Easter Day, the stone is rolled away from the Tomb and bright yellow flowers are placed in the Garden &#8211; a sign of celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A white Easter lily stands behind the green hill to symbolise the risen Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>The Lord is risen&#8230;Alleluia<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><span><em>Photography by Mike Coope<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Services for Children We hold a Family Service, which is followed by a Eucharist for those who wish to stay, on the first and fifth Sundays of the month.
