&#8230;&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Christmas St.Chad&#8217;s Church is holding its first &#8220;Follow the Star&#8221; event \u2013 on three days in December you will be able to view a wonderful variety of stars, some three dimensional, some hand-drawn \u2013 some coloured, some lit \u2013 some will be outside, but mostly they will be displayed or hanging inside the Church itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event will take place on Friday 13th December 12-4pm, on Saturday 14th December 10-4pm and on Sunday 15th December 12-3pm.&nbsp;&nbsp; There will be no entry charges \u2013 just the chance to try some local star gazing in the warmth of St.Chad&#8217;s, and maybe give a donation in appreciation of the star-makers handiwork and towards the upkeep of our beautiful village Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the Friday evening at 7.30pm in Church there will be an opportunity to learn more about the &#8216;Star of Bethlehem&#8217; at a talk given by Doug Bickley of the Perton Astronomical Society.&nbsp; This will be a ticketed event at \u00a38 per person, to include mulled wine and a mince pie.&nbsp;&nbsp; Tickets will be available shortly from Jill on 01902 700755 or <a href=\"mailto:jill.parker4@btinternet.com\">jill.parker4@btinternet.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We wish this to be a village community event and recently sent the following email to our contacts who in the past have made scarecrows or decorated Christmas trees:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We would like to involve as many of our talented Pattingham residents to take part in this event by inviting you to create &#8220;stars&#8221; for display \u2013 as an individual, with some friends, a group of neighbours maybe or a village organisation \/ commercial premises \u2013 the choice of star material is yours but we do set a maximum size of 1 sq.metre please.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Battery operated lights will be permitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help us gauge the number of star hanging points required, would you please indicate by email to me BY OCTOBER 21st AT THE LATEST if you would like to join us by making a DECORATED STAR.&nbsp;&nbsp; Please do join us and if you would like more information or are willing to lead a session, please contact Mary Hayward (<a href=\"mailto:maryleah@hotmail.co.uk\">maryleah@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On <strong>Tuesday evening<\/strong> there is a <strong>PCC meeting<\/strong> in church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at <strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by Revd Roberta Maxfield, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open<strong> from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. Those attending will receive a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At <strong>6 pm<\/strong> the <strong>Pattingham Shower Singers<\/strong> meet in church. All are welcome &#8211; just come and sing and have fun! If you know anyone who might be at risk of falling for it please let them know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"LTH\"><a><\/a>Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/link-to-hope-logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"203\" height=\"163\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/link-to-hope-logo.png\" alt=\"Link to Hope\" class=\"wp-image-6351\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are again taking part in the annual Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal which asks people to fill a shoebox for a family or an elderly couple. It&#8217;s a really simple idea, anyone can get involved. Just fill a shoebox with items for a family or an elderly couple \u2013 not just a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The appeal has been running since 1992 and over the years has delivered smiles to thousands of people in Eastern Europe, including Ukraine. I do hope that we can do something to help these people, for whom life really is a struggle, especially in these difficult times. Last year we collected a record of 56 boxes.
