It took me back to the planning committee for the Follow the Star Festival (December 2024), with Jill and Martin Parker leading the discussions. Someone questioned if the spray paint for the stars would wash away afterwards and I (with much more enthusiasm than knowledge), optimistically assured everyone that yes, the stars would wash away, disappearing like the morning mist after the next heavy rain!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, I was wrong! The faint memory of the stars can still be seen after many rainstorms and frosts.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/vftp-260-image-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/vftp-260-image-1.jpg\" alt=\"Christ crucified in glory\" class=\"wp-image-12695\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/vftp-260-image-1.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/vftp-260-image-1-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Looking at the stars makes me remember that our \u2018star\u2019, the star of our faith, is the Holy Trinity, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Although our painted stars have not (yet) washed away, they are fading and soon shall disappear, unlike the \u2018star\u2019 of our faith which remains constant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The (Nicene) Creed which we say every Sunday, (\u2026One Holy catholic and apostolic church) reminds us we are ONE, together worshipping, and HOLY because we have Our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us; CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC meaning universal, across the world following the Apostles. These are the principles and foundations by which we worship and try to live our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next time you are in church, saying the familiar words of The Creed, take a moment with me, to give thanks for the firm foundations of our faith and assurance, given for us, by the sacrifice of Our Lord Jesus Christ, crucified, risen and ascended!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God Bless,<br>Dorothy Steel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Would you like to write a View from the Pews?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one. Please do join us and if you would like more information or are willing to lead a session, please contact Mary Hayward (<a href=\"mailto:maryleah@hotmail.co.uk\">maryleah@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Tu<strong>esday<\/strong> evening<\/strong> there is a <strong><strong>PCC meeting<\/strong><\/strong> in church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at\u00a0<strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by Revd Paul Brown, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open<strong> from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. Those attending will receive a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6 pm<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> the <strong>Pattingham Shower Singers<\/strong> meet in church. All are welcome &#8211; just come and sing and have fun! Her design will appear on the front cover of the card which will be distributed throughout the parish.<br><br>The judge commented that it was a difficult decision as all the entries were of a high standard.<br><br>Thank you to everybody who entered the competition. All entries can be seen on the church website at &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/information\/easter-card-competition-2025\/\">https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/information\/easter-card-competition-2025\/<\/a>&gt;. The names of the entrants have been omitted at this stage and will be added later. See if you can guess the artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ER\"><a><\/a>Church Electoral Roll<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every six years a completely new Church Electoral Roll has to be prepared and this is one of those years. The process is now underway and the formal notice is displayed in the church porch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone who wishes to be on the roll will need to complete a form which needs to be returned by the deadline of Monday 21st April.
