Death and destruction rain down on millions of innocent civilians. Whatever the original causes of the war there can be no excuse for this level of brutality, the vast majority just wanting to get on with their lives in peace. The inhumane blockade of aid by Israel is causing famine and suffering on an unimaginable scale with people queuing for hours for a bag of flour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UK government is failing to meet its obligation towards Palestinians in Gaza. After more than 18 months of military bombardment, mass displacement, at least 50,000 killed and around three quarters of homes and other buildings destroyed, Palestinians are now burying their children who are dying from hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fast for Gaza is a simple but powerful global campaign, going hungry in solidarity with thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza at risk of dying from starvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can all join the campaign by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fasting for up to 24 hours once a week;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encouraging others to get involved;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signing the petition at &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianaid.org.uk\/appeals\/emergencies\">www.christianaid.org.uk\/appeals\/emergencies<\/a>><br>Write to your MP. If you are local, it\u2019s Mike Wood MP, email <a href=\"mailto:mike.wood.mp@parliament.uk\">mike.wood.mp@parliament.uk<\/a><br>Otherwise you can check on &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.members.parliament.uk\">www.members.parliament.uk<\/a>><br>A template letter is available on the Christian Aid website at &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianaid.org.uk\/news\/campaigns\/write-your-mp-fast-4-gaza\">www.christianaid.org.uk\/news\/campaigns\/write-your-mp-fast-4-gaza<\/a>><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t have to be a full 24 hours, maybe a missed meal or two. Please do join us and if you would like more information or are willing to lead a session, please contact Mary Hayward (<a href=\"mailto:maryleah@hotmail.co.uk\">maryleah@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at\u00a0<strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by Revd Paul Brown, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open<strong> from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. Those attending will receive a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> at <strong>12 noon Who&#8217;s for Lunch?<\/strong> is held in the <strong>Village Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6 pm<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> the <strong>Pattingham Shower Singers<\/strong> meet in church. All are welcome &#8211; just come and sing and have fun!
