Each room as well as objects holds memories, reminders of joyful moments, routines, long forgotten moments captured in photographs or letters. Objects such as gifts, a blanket, clothing or a cherished trophy. All stir a mixture of gratitude and happy memories; but sometimes memories remind us that life is transient. Each part of our lives, be it our home, our family, our friends or where we live, shapes us.

Our world may not be perfect, but it contains something that can make us happy but also gives us a challenge We can sit back and just ‘wait & see ‘ or challenge ourselves to have the courage to act; the grace to let go, but hopefully the wisdom to know the difference. Here at St Chads, we welcome a new chapter in the life of this church which, like our home, reminds many of us in so many ways of points in our lives. The church is a central point physically to many in the village who don’t worship here, but we look forward with faith & hope to new challenges for all, which are coming.

Ecclesiastes reminds us there is a time for everything. A time to weep and a time to laugh . A time to keep and a time to throw away . A time to speak and a time to be silent.

God calls us, old or young, physically fit or restricted by age or infirmity of any kind, not to sit back but to move forward in fellowship; and for us all to contribute in whatever way we can, to accept His challenges.

Jill Parker

(As always this View from the Pews is the personal view of the author.)

Would you like to write a View from the Pews?

We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one.
