Over 80 souls joined a joyous singalong, with hymns including Colours of Day, Cwm Rhondda, Lord of the Dance and One More Step to name but a few. Thanks to everybody who sent in requests &#8211; those not used (including mine!) have been retained for another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were blessed with the musical skills of Martin, Cath (both of whom also played the bass guitar), Peter, John, Kearon and Rev Merry. Some \u00a3357 was raised from donations and the raffle in support of the Haven Refuge. Thanks to Tony and Lisa for organising the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up are the Scarecrow Festival events. There is a Barn Dance in the Village Hall on Friday 26th September, tickets available from Anna Davies at <a href=\"mailto:anna.m_199@hotmail.com\">anna.m_199@hotmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then on Saturday 27th, in church, we welcome back the Staffordshire Band for \u2018Sounds Of Brass\u2019.When they entertained us two years ago it was a great occasion and we anticipate the same again. Tickets from Alan Smith at <a href=\"mailto:alan_m_smith@hotmail.co.uk\">alan_m_smith@hotmail.co.uk<\/a> or any member of the PCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concert will be in aid of two charities, Village by Village and Midland Freewheelers Blood Bikes. The former supports work in Ghana to provide long term solutions to lack of clean water, sanitation and education, literally moving \u2018village by village\u2019. We as a church are members so anyone is able to attend (although only those who are individual members would be able to vote or stand for office). Jill Parker can answer any questions you may have about Interfaith Wolverhampton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>Tuesday evening<\/strong> there is a <strong>PCC meeting<\/strong> in church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at&nbsp;<strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by the Vicar, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open<strong> from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. Those attending will receive a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6 pm<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> the <strong>Pattingham Shower Singers<\/strong> meet in church. All are welcome &#8211; just come and sing and have fun! Anyone interested in joining the choir should contact Martin Fox or any member of the choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Friday<\/strong> from <strong>10 am to 12 noon<\/strong> the <strong>Home Instead Memory Caf\u00e9<\/strong> is being held at the <strong>Village Hall<\/strong>. These are free informal sessions designed for individuals living with dementia and their carers to meet in a relaxed environment.\u00a0 Enjoy simple, engaging activities, while connecting with others who understand the challenges of dementia. No need to book. Just pop along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Friday<\/strong> from <strong>2 pm to 4 pm<\/strong> <strong>ChadART<\/strong> takes place in church. This is so that it can&nbsp;include coverage of the&nbsp;Scarecrow Festival which takes place in the last weekend of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"PC\"><a><\/a>Parish Council &#8211; message from the Chairman<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Parish Council is passionate about engaging with local residents and holding drop in sessions. I wonder if we can beat that this year. We will need to collect them by 26th October, a little earlier than usual, but I do hope that we can do something to help these people, for whom life really is a struggle, especially in these difficult times.<br><br>There are leaflets at the back of church (and on the church website) which give greater details and make suggestions about what they would like us to include in the boxes. It is important to read the instructions on the leaflet which clearly define what you can put in the boxes.
