He lives in South Africa.

Today he has spoken about transition – he has certainly had to cope with transition most of this year – 2 daughters have married, he has re-married (his wife died 7 years ago) and he has moved house. His transition process epitomises life we all live! That is the stress leading up to transition, joy in the moment, relief following the transition and finally progress that transition brought about. Transition unfortunately can be reversed – the anticipation leading to the transition dashed unsatisfactorily and the fall-out as a result – very unsatisfactory!

But the point is, we have to cope continually with transition, good or bad, which moves faster with ever changing technology and whatever life throws at us.

The 2nd email is from ‘Save the Parish’ led by Reverend Marcus Walker (Mike Hollands put me onto this site). They are a very proactive group who have been fighting to save Parish Churches.

He was congratulating Bishop Sarah Mullally, on her appointment as Archbishop of Canterbury, who seems to be a Bishop of the people and deeply pastoral. This appointment may be a difficult transition for some people and certainly for Bishop Mullally as she wades through the minefield that is our Church today; but I, for one, hope that her promising credentials cope with transition, to fulfil a greater need for inclusivity and for a better relationship between the Church hierarchy and ordinary people.

All the very best Sarah.

Sue Stirk

(As always this View is the personal view of the author.)

Would you like to write a View from the Pews?

We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one.
