You may think so too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alan Smith<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Let\u2019s keep the kindness going after Christmas is over<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We cannot have Christmas every day. But we can strive to capture its message of hope in the midst of the harsher realities of human life, long after the presents are unwrapped, the carol singers have left and the mulled wine is finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In one of my favourite poems, The Work of Christmas, by Howard Thurman, he writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>When the song of the angel is stilled,&nbsp;<br>When the star in the sky is gone,<br>When the kings and princes are home,<br>When the shepherds are back with their flock,<br>The work of Christmas begins:<br>To find the lost,<br>To heal the broken,<br>To feed the hungry,<br>To release the prisoner,<br>To rebuild the nations,<br>To bring peace among others,<br>To make music in the heart.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>(As always this View is the personal view of the author.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Would you like to write a View from the Pews?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one. Please do join us and if you would like more information please contact Mary Hayward (<a href=\"mailto:maryleah@hotmail.co.uk\">maryleah@hotmail.co.uk<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Tuesday evening<\/strong> there is a <strong>PCC meeting<\/strong> in church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> at&nbsp;<strong>10.00 am<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by the vicar, in church which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the service<\/strong> the church will be open <strong>from 10.30 am<\/strong> until at least 11.00 am as a <strong>Place of Welcome<\/strong> when anyone who wants to will be welcome to share in the coffee, cake and chat, whether they have been to the service or not. Those attending will receive a warm welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> at <strong>12 noon Who&#8217;s for Lunch?<\/strong> is held in the <strong>Village Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6 pm<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> the <strong>Pattingham Shower Singers<\/strong> meet in church. All are welcome &#8211; just come and sing and have fun! Anyone interested in joining the choir should contact Martin Fox or any member of the choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Next_Sunday\">Sunday 25th January &#8211;&nbsp;Second Sunday of Epiphany &#8211; Last Day of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At 10 am <\/strong>there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong>, led by the Vicar, in church.&nbsp;<strong>Coffee, tea and biscuits will be available after the service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6.00 pm<\/strong> the <strong>Annual Covenanting Churches Service for Christian Unity<\/strong> will be held at <strong>St Michael and All Angels, Tettenhall<\/strong>.&nbsp; The service will be in the context of choral evensong, but adapted to the theme of Christian unity and including members of different churches with readings, prayers, etc. All are welcome. Tea and cake will be available after the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6.30 pm<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Evensong<\/strong>, led by the Vicar, in church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>Parish Prayer Diary<\/strong> we pray for:<br>Those who are in residential care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>Trysull Deanery Prayer Diary<\/strong> we pray for:<br>St Paul, Pendeford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"MFR\"><a><\/a>Music For Fun and Reflection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lichfield Cathedral Wednesday 21st January<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday 21st January at 10.45 am at Lichfield Cathedral there is a music event called Music For Fun and Reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will consist of a performance lasting approximately 25 minutes from pupils from Lichfield Cathedral School followed by 20 minutes of singing along to well known hymns including Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.&nbsp; This will be followed by refreshments in the north transept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information or to let them know if you are planning to attend, please email:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:dementia.friendly@lichfield-cathedral.org\">dementia.friendly@lichfield-cathedral.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tracey Williams<br>Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Rotas\"><a><\/a>Rotas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As a stopgap I have put together the rotas for the first three months of this year. They have been emailed to those concerned and a copy is on the notice board at the back of the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking for someone to take on the responsibility for the rotas which Elaine Lavendar, with her husband Peter Nicholls, did for 10 years until her recent death. If anyone would like to find out what would be involved speak to me or one of the churchwardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We would welcome people to join the rotas. At the Sunday evening services there are opportunities to read lessons and for sidespersons. At the Sunday morning&nbsp;services there are opportunities to read lessons, lead intercessions, serve at the altar, do coffee and for sidespersons. If you would be interested in volunteering for any of these please speak to me, one of the churchwardens or the Vicar to find out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also separate rotas for the church flowers and for brass cleaning. Margaret Harris deals with the flower rota and&nbsp; Elizabeth Gosling deals with the brass rota. In addition \u00a31,205 was donated through cash gifts and the wishing well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an amazing achievement, even more so in such difficult economic times. Forgive me, Lord, when I am at the end of my tether and help me remember that my loved one is simply lost and frightened and does not intend to challenge me and encourage me to think of strategies which will help my loved one cope as the illness progresses.<br>I give thanks for the support given by friends, family, medical and other agencies.&nbsp; I give thanks for the joy when a solution is found, even if it is only for a short while.&nbsp; I pray that you will guide those involved in research to find a cure for this cruel illness and that sufficient funding is invested by those in power.<br>Loving God, help all carers of dementia sufferers never forget that you walk with them and that&nbsp;
