This was knitted by me, Graham, our two daughters, son-in-law and grandsons; everyone had a go at knitting a row. Most of the family had never tried knitting before, so it was a challenge, and we had some fun and also some anguish, as stitches were dropped, incorrectly knitted or made so tightly that they wouldn’t move along the needle! Never mind, here it is and we proudly offer it with the other poppies collected by Tracey.

A few days ago I was reading from my Bible some famous verses from Corinthians.

St Paul writes:

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work” (1 Corinthians 12.4-6)

This passage is followed by Paul’s teaching that, just as a body has many parts, the eye, the foot, the hand etc, all have a part to play so that the body as a whole can function.

I suppose this is what it’s like in our church at St Chad’s. There is something for everyone to contribute whether it’s making the tea, organising a special event, giving out the hymn books ………………. the list is endless, but we can all do something.

Going back to our poppy, parts of it are neat and accurate, other parts a bit wonky, but together we have created a poppy.

Barbara Tritton

(As always this View is the personal view of the author.)

Would you like to write a View from the Pews?

We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one.
