The church\u2019s annual meeting was held after Evensong on Sunday 7th April and was attended by 30 people. Among the items discussed were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Churchwarden.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Iain Coleman stood down as Churchwarden having completed six years in office. Philip Morgan has been elected to succeed him and will formally take office at the Archdeacon\u2019s Visitation on 15th<\/sup> May. Gena Richards continues as the other Churchwarden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Statements.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Annual Report and Financial Statement was not available as the treasurer had not been able to finalize the accounts pending receipt of information about the Butler Fund Investment Income from the diocese. <\/p>\n\n\n\n All other reports were available before the meeting (both in paper form and on the church website).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Treasurer\u2019s Report.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Clive Pendrell said that the church\u2019s finances are sound with a surplus of about \u00a35,800 on day to day activities, maintaining the improvement of the last few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are grateful for the continuing support provided by grants from the Pattingham Church Estate Trust Fund; The Parish Council, however, advised that as a result of legal advice it was no longer able to provide a grant for the maintenance of the churchyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Clive anticipates achieving a balanced budget in 2019 and possibly a small surplus on day to day activities. Once last year\u2019s accounts have been completed and independently examined the Annual Report and Financial Statement will be made available in the usual way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vicar\u2019s Report.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Maureen paid tribute to the many people who in different ways have contributed to the work and life of the church. She said that this really is an amazing church in which to minister. She referred to anniversaries celebrated in the last year and to the loss of significant figures in our church and village community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fabric Report.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n This provided a summary of the work which has been undertaken over the last year and which is planned or hoped for in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The church clock is not working at the moment due to a missing pin off the lantern pinion in the escapement mechanism. Repair will involve dismantling that part of the mechanism and taking it to a workshop for repair. We are waiting for quotations before the work can be authorised when it will take a few weeks to complete the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other reports.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n A number of other reports were presented and they are all available on the church website here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n PCC members.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Elaine Lavender did not seek re-election to the PCC. Other retiring members of the PCC were elected to fill four of the six vacancies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At a meeting of the PCC Philip Sims was co-opted to the council.
