{"id":4706,"date":"2020-05-16T14:41:08","date_gmt":"2020-05-16T14:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/?page_id=4706"},"modified":"2020-06-28T11:12:44","modified_gmt":"2020-06-28T11:12:44","slug":"collect-and-readings-5th-july-2020","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-5th-july-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Collect and readings &#8211; 5th July 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunday 5th July &#8211; 4th Sunday after Trinity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>O God, the protector of all who trust in you,<br>without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy:<br>increase and multiply upon us your mercy;<br>that with you as our ruler and guide<br>we may so pass through things temporal<br>that we lose not our hold on things eternal;<br>grant this, heavenly Father,<br>for our Lord Jesus Christ\u2019s sake,<br>who is alive and reigns with you,<br>in the unity of the Holy Spirit,<br>one God, now and for ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First reading<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Zechariah 9.9\u201312<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9<\/sup> Rejoice greatly, O&nbsp;daughter Zion!<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Shout aloud, O&nbsp;daughter Jerusalem!<br>Lo, your king comes to you;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;triumphant and victorious is he,<br>humble and riding on a donkey,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;on a colt, the foal of a donkey.<br><sup>10<\/sup> He will cut off the chariot from&nbsp;Ephraim<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the warhorse from Jerusalem;<br>and the battle-bow shall be cut off,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and he shall command peace to the nations;<br>his dominion shall be from sea to&nbsp;sea,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and from the River to the ends of the earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11<\/sup> As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with&nbsp;you,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.<br><sup>12<\/sup> Return to your stronghold, O&nbsp;prisoners of hope;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;today I declare that I will restore to you double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gospel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthew 11.16\u201319,25\u201330<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16<\/sup>&nbsp;\u2018But to what will I compare this generation?
