The Church’s year starts on Advent Sunday<\/strong>, which is either in the last few days of November or the first few days of December. For these seasons special services are held.<\/p>\n Before Christmas we usually have a Carol Service and a Chrstingle service. On Ash Wednesday<\/strong> there is a service of communion with hymns at 7.30 pm.<\/p>\n Mothering Sunday<\/strong> is observed on the 4th Sunday of Lent with the usual Sunday services.<\/p>\n Holy Week<\/strong> is the week leading up Good Friday and Easter. Easter Day<\/strong> is celebrated with the usual Sunday services.<\/p>\n Rogation Sunday<\/strong> is the fifth Sunday after Easter. There is usually a rogation walk in the afternoon followed by a service at Patshull. \nWe then move into “ordinary time” until Ash Wednesday<\/strong>, which marks the beginning of Lent<\/strong>.
\nThe last week of Lent is Holy Week<\/strong>, the Friday of which is Good Friday<\/strong>, which is followed on the third day by Easter Day<\/strong>.
\nThe season of Easter<\/strong> continues through Rogationtide<\/strong> and Ascension Day<\/strong> to the Feast of Pentecost<\/strong>. \nThe Thursday is Maundy Thursday<\/strong> – at 7.30 pm there is a service of communion with hymns and the stripping of the altar.
