The PCC\u2019s meeting on 3rd<\/sup> November was held after the announcement of the second lockdown, which was due to start on 5th<\/sup> November. It was again held over Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Remembrance Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It was decided that in view of the restrictions which would be in force it would not be possible to hold the planned service outside the Village Hall. As the rules allow the church to be used to broadcast an act of worship it was agreed to hold a short service at the War Memorial in the church, with only a few people present, which would be made available online. That service took place just before 11 o\u2019clock on Remembrance Sunday and was streamed live on Facebook and later put on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Churchwardens and the Chairman of the Parish Council laid wreaths and the two minute silence was observed. Even though we were not able to hold the usual service this did mean that 2020 would not be the only year in which there was not an Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths at the war memorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Christmas services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Although we were just starting a new period of lockdown plans for Advent and Christmas were discussed. Details of services and other events are elsewhere in the magazine and in the Christmas cards which will be delivered to all homes in the parish. There will be a system of bookings for the Christmas services in church and those who have not booked will not be able to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Church opening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Having reviewed the risk assessment it was agreed that the church should be open for private prayer without the need for a steward to be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It will normally be open each day – although not on a day when there is a funeral – but not necessarily all day. These arrangements will need to be reviewed again once we are able to resume services in church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Deanery Synod and PCC membership<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dorothy Steel volunteered to fill the vacancy for a Deanery Synod Representative. There are still a number of vacancies for PCC members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since this meeting Alan Smith has volunteered to join the PCC and has been formally appointed to fill one of those vacancies. If anyone else is interested in joining the PCC please speak to Maureen or any member of the PCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Admission of Churchwardens<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Churchwardens are usually admitted to office by the Archdeacon on behalf of the Bishop at a Visitiation Service. Those have been cancelled this year and the Bishop has asked that Churchwardens should admitted by their parish clergy.
