Welcome to the second edition in 2021 of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n

There will be no services in church for the time being but the church will remain open for private prayer and Worship on the Web will continue online.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would not like to live in a world without cathedrals. I need their beauty and grandeur. I need them against the vulgarity of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to look up at the illuminated church windows and let myself be blinded by the unearthly colours. I need their lustre. I need it against the dirty colours of their uniforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to let myself be wrapped in the austere coolness of the churches. I need their imperious silence. I need it against the witless bellowing of the barracks yard and the witty chatter of the yes men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Lichfield<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I want to hear the rustling of the organ, this deluge of ethereal tones. I need it against the shrill farce of marches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love praying people. I need the sight of them. I need it against the malicious poison of the superficial and the thoughtless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to read the powerful words of the Bible. I need the unreal force of their poetry. I need it against the dilapidation of the language and the dictatorship slogans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A world without these things would be a world I would not like to live in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 10th January – Baptism of Christ<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There will be no service<\/strong> in church. The Worship on the Web service<\/strong> is led by the Youth Group. It will be a bright and cheerful service where we are looking forward with hope and confidence for the new year. It will be on the Worship on the Web<\/a> page of the website from 10.00 am. For those without internet access it will also be on the Dial a Service phone line (01902 906585) from 9 am – until then last Sunday’s service is on the phone line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During January the bishops are providing sermons for parishes to use. This week’s preacher is Bishop Michael, the Bishop of Lichfield. The sermon can be found on YouTube at https:\/\/youtu.be\/QZIr9U0CPaM<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist, which would normally be on the pewsheet, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During the week Maureen (or occasionally Ken) will stream Morning Prayer and Compline (Night Prayer) on Facebook Live<\/a>. Morning Prayer will be at 8.30 am and Compline will be at 9.30 pm (there will be no Compline on Friday).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The church will be open for private prayer every day<\/strong>. The times may vary depending when the keyholders are able to open and close the church. Look out for the “church open” sign outside the porch. Please observe the instructions in the notice on the door, which include the need to wear a face covering, using hand sanitiser and not going into the church if someine else is already in there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a PCC meeting<\/strong> using Zoom on Tuesday evening.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be no service on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Worship on the Web service will be a Plough Sunday service led by Maureen. It will be available on the Worship on the Web<\/a> page of the website from 10 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those without internet access – listen to a Pattingham church service by phone<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Several members of our congregation who do not use the internet are using the dedicated phone number – 01902 906585<\/strong> – to listen to our services. Calls are charged at normal rate. The service for each Sunday will be available from about 9 am and will continue to be available until it is replaced be the next week’s. If you know someone who might find it useful please let them know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Daily Hope<\/a><\/strong> phone line from the Church of England on 0800 804 8044<\/strong> is also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resources for worship and prayer at home<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Some of resources which can be used at home are listed on the Resources Available Online<\/a> and the Resources Available for Children, Young People and Families<\/a> pages of the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the absence of our own Sunday School we encourage children and families to look at the Virtual Sunday School<\/a> YouTube channel. A new Sunday School video normally comes out each Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can all be found on the Sunday School on the Web<\/a> page of our website as well as on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ChadNet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This bulletin is sent to those who have requested it. We now have 90 subscribers but there may still  be some people who are not aware of it and would wish to receive it. Giving to the church<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the current circumstances there will inevitably be a reduction in the money which the church receives. However we will need to continue to pay our bills and we would ask that those who can afford to do so should continue to give regularly. Details of the various ways in which you can give can be found on the Giving<\/a> page of the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are paying by cheque please make the cheque payable to “Pattingham PCC” or “<\/strong>Pattingham Parochial Church Council<\/strong>“.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekly bulletin for each Sunday will normally be sent on the preceding Friday or Saturday. Additional bulletins may be sent if required. It is only being sent to those who have requested it.
