{"id":8099,"date":"2021-04-25T21:20:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-25T21:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/?page_id=8099"},"modified":"2021-04-25T21:20:00","modified_gmt":"2021-04-25T21:20:00","slug":"collect-and-readings-6th-june-2021","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-6th-june-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Collect and readings &#8211; 6th June 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunday 6th June &#8211; First Sunday after Trinity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>O God,<br>the strength of all those who put their trust in you,<br>mercifully accept our prayers<br>and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature<br>we can do no good thing without you,<br>grant us the help of your grace,<br>that in the keeping of your commandments<br>we may please you both in will and deed;<br>through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,<br>who is alive and reigns with you,<br>in the unity of the Holy Spirit,<br>one God, now and for ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-084e08dc-65d8-427d-b240-a7fddb9cfa30\">First reading<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Genesis 3.8\u201315<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>8<\/sup>&nbsp;They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. <sup>9<\/sup>But the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, \u2018Where are you?\u2019 <sup>10<\/sup>He said, \u2018I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.\u2019 <sup>11<\/sup>He said, \u2018Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?\u2019 <sup>12<\/sup>The man said, \u2018The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.\u2019 <sup>13<\/sup>Then the Lord God said to the woman, \u2018What is this that you have done?\u2019 The woman said, \u2018The serpent tricked me, and I ate.\u2019 <sup>14<\/sup>The Lord God said to the serpent,<br>\u2018Because you have done this,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;cursed are you among all animals<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and among all wild creatures;<br>upon your belly you shall go,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and dust you shall eat<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;all the days of your life.<br><sup>15<\/sup> I will put enmity between you and the woman,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and between your offspring and hers;<br>he will strike your head,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and you will strike his heel.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gospel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark 3.20\u201335<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>20<\/sup>and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. <sup>21<\/sup>When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, \u2018He has gone out of his mind.\u2019 <sup>22<\/sup>And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, \u2018He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.\u2019 <sup>23<\/sup>And he called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, \u2018How can Satan cast out Satan?
