The church remains open for private prayer except on Sunday and there will be a combination of streamed services and recorded Worship on the Web online. Covid-19 guidelines should be observed in church at all times.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View\">View from the Pews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sue-riches-180x236-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sue-riches-180x236-1.png\" alt=\"Sue Riches\" class=\"wp-image-8205\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/jeremy-riches-180x236-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/jeremy-riches-180x236-1.png\" alt=\"Jeremy Riches\" class=\"wp-image-8206\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;real joy to be back in church worshipping among our friends there.&nbsp; One realises that the church is not just the building but the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, one realisation that has come out of the time spent not IN church, is how important time OUT of church is.&nbsp; On our many walks round the village, seeing far more people out and about than usual, we all stop, and talk and have made new friends, without having any idea of who some may be! Everyone says, aren\u2019t we lucky to have this wonderful countryside on our door-step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weather might not have been brilliant recently, and we quote the old saying, \u2018If the ash before the oak, then we\u2019ll surely have a soak\u2019 but we have still had the soak despite the oak being first.&nbsp; Have you ever wondered why some trees come into leaf before others?&nbsp; The chestnut is one of the first and yet we have a fig tree at home which at the time of writing looks dead and will not be full leaf until mid June.&nbsp; It is part of the miracle of creation that makes these differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have been blessed with our senses to appreciate the wonders of spring; smell &#8211; we stop and sniff the wonderful scent of bluebells.&nbsp; We can shut our eyes and listen to the birdsong.&nbsp; With our eyes we can see all the different shades of greens in the trees, or indeed the colours of the flowers.&nbsp; But, who made all these marvels? And who do we have to thank for this and for our sense of wonderment every spring, when after a long and gloomy winter we can truly appreciate the fact of creation.&nbsp; When walking we can thank the Creator for these wonders at every step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this is the time for us to say thank you to God now that we are together once again in church, praying and giving thanks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sue and Jeremy Riches<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Could you contribute a View from the Pews?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from all members of the congregation. Please wear a face covering, use the hand sanitizer and observe social distancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The service will be screened live <\/strong>for those who cannot or do not want to attend. It will be available then and later on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/worship-on-the-web\/\">Worship on the Web<\/a> page of the website and also on YouTube at &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/_34WHs_DsZQ\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/_34WHs_DsZQ<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will also be on the Dial a Service phone line (01902 906585) but not until about 12.30 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-23rd-may-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist, which would normally be on the pewsheet, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"This_week\">This week<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During the week Maureen (or occasionally Ken) will stream Morning Prayer and Compline (Night Prayer) on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/StChadsPattingham\/\">Facebook Live<\/a>. Morning Prayer will be at 8.30 am and Compline will be at 9.30 pm (there will be no Compline on Friday).  This will be the last week as it will not continue after Maureen&#8217;s retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The church will be open for private prayer every day except Sunday. <\/strong>The times may vary depending when the keyholders are able to open and close the church. Look out for the &#8220;church open&#8221; sign outside the porch. Please observe the instructions in the notice on the door, which include the need to wear a face covering, using hand sanitiser and keeping apart from anyone else who is already in there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer in church at 10.00 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Next_Sunday\">Sunday 30th May &#8211; Trinity Sunday<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is Maureen&#8217;s last Sunday before she retires. There will be two services of Holy Communion, both led by Maureen, in church at 10 am and 6.30 pm.<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>They will be screened live <\/strong>for those who cannot or do not want to attend. They will be available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/worship-on-the-web\/\">Worship on the Web<\/a> page of the website and also on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-30th-may-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist, which would normally be on the pewsheet, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Ahead\">Further ahead<br><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maureen retires at the end of May. It will be some time until a new Vicar is appointed and until then we will be supported by other clergy in the area. The churchwardens will be the first point of contact and the Vicarage phone (01902 700257) will be diverted to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we will not be able to mark Maureen&#8217;s retirement properly on her last Sunday she will return for a <strong>Special Celebration Tea Party<\/strong> on <strong>Sunday 4th July<\/strong>. More details will be available in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Services from June<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pattern of the <strong>10 am services<\/strong> on Sundays will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1st and 5th Sundays &#8211; a Family Service followed by Communion<\/li><li>3rd Sunday &#8211; a Service led by the Youth Group followed by Communion<\/li><li>2nd and 4th Sundays &#8211; a service of Holy Communion.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of these may be recorded Worship on the Web services which are also shown in church as part of the church service. Calls are charged at normal rate. The service for each Sunday will be available from about 12.30 pm (or earlier if there is a recorded service) and will continue to be available until it is replaced be the next week&#8217;s. A new Sunday School video now comes out every two weeks on a Saturday. This week&#8217;s, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/U4SIPzq3nu0\">Pentecost &#8211; What is the Holy Spirit?<\/a>, will be available from 10am. However we will need to continue to pay our bills and we would ask that those who can afford to do so should continue to give regularly.
