The church remains open for private prayer except on Sunday and there will be a combination of streamed services and recorded Worship on the Web online. Covid-19 guidelines should be observed in church at all times.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View\">View from the Pews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"252\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/alan-smith.jpg\" alt=\"Alan Smith\" class=\"wp-image-7447\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A few weeks ago, my elder granddaughter, Liliana, was pottering around my front room when she came across a spider\u2019s web. She looked at me, with the mixture of contempt and curiosity that only a two year old can muster, and said \u2018Pops, don\u2019t you ever dust?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, the honest answer is, of course, \u2018as seldom as possible\u2019. Nevertheless it got me thinking that, having been here for three years now, maybe she was right and it was at least time to have a mooch through the cupboards and drawers, starting in the kitchen. To my surprise, I came across \u2018stuff\u2019 that I had bought to see me through the early days of lockdown one, which had obviously been pushed to the back of the pantry as time went on, most of it well within date. I certainly didn\u2019t panic buy and\u00a0 was never going to starve, although I did think a few times, why did I buy that and what should I do with it? Enter The Well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/the-well-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/the-well-logo-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"The Well\" class=\"wp-image-6300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/the-well-logo-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/the-well-logo-1024x609.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/the-well-logo-768x457.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/the-well-logo.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Well is a Christian charity with a passion to show Jesus\u2019s heart of love for the poor across Wolverhampton and the surrounding area, providing food parcels and essentials for those in desperate need. Whilst a food bank is not (nor should be) a long term solution for the needy, for people of low income a sudden crisis can mean going hungry. In the fifteen years since it started, the Well has delivered food and toiletry parcels to over 70,000 families, with over 100 of such parcels being delivered each week and has just been awarded the Queen\u2019s Award for Voluntary Service. It\u2019s the usual stuff; tins (not baked beans, apparently, I must find out why!), cereals, tea and coffee, UHT milk, pasta, rice etc plus toiletries e.g. nappies, loo rolls, wipes and the like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if you come across any items (dusty or not) that you can spare, or can add a few bits to your shopping, do let me know. They can be dropped off (Cherry Cottage Marlbrook Lane) or I can happily collect if you text me on 07757 688518. Look out for the &#8220;church open&#8221; sign outside the porch. Please observe the instructions in the notice on the door, which include the need to wear a face covering, using hand sanitiser and keeping apart from anyone else who is already in there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer in church at 10.00 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday<\/strong> is the <strong>copy date<\/strong> for the July magazine. It will be screened in church as the main part of the service at 10 am, when it will be followed by a brief service of Holy Communion for those who wish to stay. It will be available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/worship-on-the-web\/\">Worship on the Web<\/a> page of the website from 10 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a <strong>Deanery Confirmation Service<\/strong> at <strong>St Bartholomew&#8217;s, Penn<\/strong> at 5.30 pm. A new Sunday School video now comes out every two weeks on a Saturday.
