The church remains open for private prayer except on Sunday and there will be a combination of streamed services and recorded Worship on the Web online. Covid-19 guidelines should be observed in church at all times.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View\">View from the Pews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"252\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/jill-parker.jpg\" alt=\"Jill Parker\" class=\"wp-image-7045\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I recently read an item from a seminar called \u2018Think better, live better\u2019 and it really resonated with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note to self; \u201cThings will continue to happen that are unexpected, undesirable and uncontrollable \u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But you can choose the next step&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Closing the door, completing the chapter, turning the page etc. It doesn\u2019t matter what you call it; what matters is you find the strength to leave in the past those parts of your life that are over and changed. Right now it is all about embracing the truth. What has happened is uncontrollable, what you do now changes everything. Stepping into a brand-new path is difficult but no more difficult than remaining in a situation that no longer fits or no longer exists.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is relevant to the recent pandemic but also everything we do each day in our lives. No matter what our age, it is easy to live in the past but not move forward with faith and hope. We learn from the past but must not live in it. She will still be living in the Vicarage for a few weeks so we will still see her and Suzie about. She is no longer our Vicar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For matters which would normally be dealt with by the Vicar the churchwardens are the first point of contact. The Vicarage phone (01902 700257) is redirected to the churchwardens. When they are not available a message can be left on the voicemail and they will return the call when they are available. Please wear a face covering, use the hand sanitizer and observe social distancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Worship on the Web, <\/strong><strong>on the theme of &#8220;Rushing and Resting&#8221;, will be led by the Youth Group. <\/strong>It will be available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/worship-on-the-web\/\">Worship on the Web<\/a> page of the website from 10 am. It will also be on the Dial a Service phone line (01902 906585).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will also be screened in church as the main part of the service at 10 am, when it will be followed by a brief service of Holy Communion for those who wish to stay, which will not be streamed online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-18th-july-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist, which would normally be on the pewsheet, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Conf\">Confirmation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kath James<\/strong>, a member of our congregation, is being confirmed at the Deanery Confirmation service at St Bartholomew&#8217;s, Penn at 5.30 pm this Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numbers attending the service are limited but the service will be streamed for those who would like to follow the service online. The link is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/camstreamer.com\/redirect\/5d833affeb89b80\/S-47870\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/camstreamer.com\/redirect\/5d833affeb89b80\/S-47870<\/a>\u00a0 You will be able\u00a0to test the link beforehand, but the sound will not be activated\u00a0until just before the service commences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please pray for Kath and those who are being confirmed with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"This_week\">This week<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The church will be open for private prayer every day except Sunday. <\/strong>The times may vary depending when the keyholders are able to open and close the church. Look out for the &#8220;church open&#8221; sign outside the porch. Please observe the instructions in the notice on the door, which include the need to wear a face covering, using hand sanitiser and keeping apart from anyone else who is already in there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer in church at 10.00 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Next_Sunday\">Sunday 25th July &#8211; Eighth Sunday after Trinity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There will be a service of Holy Communion and Baptism in church at 10 am.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We hope that there will also be a Songs of Praise Service in church at 6.30 pm<\/strong> at which it should be possible for the congregation to sing<strong>. <\/strong>An announcement will be made during the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-25th-july-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist, which would normally be on the pewsheet, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Covid\">Covid Precautions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government announced as expected that most of the current restrictions will be removed from 19th July. Among other things this means that singing, both by the choir and the congregation, will be allowed and that social distancing will no longer be required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is guidance both from the government and the Church of England which we need to consider before deciding exactly how that should be applied at St Chad&#8217;s. A new Sunday School video now comes out every two weeks on a Saturday. This week&#8217;s is <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BOXI8IYarF8\">Parable of the Good Samaritan + a game &amp; a challenge!<\/a>\u00a0 There will be a Virtual Holiday Club in August &#8211; there is a video <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/qcNGMJ-5Dhk\">Pick Your Team for Virtual Holiday Club!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They can all be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/about-us\/young-people\/sunday-school-on-the-web\/\">Sunday School on the Web<\/a> page of our website as well as on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Giving\">Giving to the church<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the current circumstances there will inevitably be a reduction in the money which the church receives. However we will need to continue to pay our bills and we would ask that those who can afford to do so should continue to give regularly.
