Work has continued on our ‘Eco Church’ journey and we have reviewed all the ways in which we can support and celebrate God’s wonderful creation!

Did you see the service from St Chad’s on Sunday June 20, presented by our Youth Group, looking prayerfully at the G7 conference and all the implications? It was an amazing and thought provoking insight!

The PCC continues work to cover a weekly service at St Chad’s and we have been greatly assisted by our Rural Dean, Julia Cody. Julia has been in touch with clergy

around the Trysull Deanery who have all rallied round to help us in our interregnum, for which we are truly grateful. It is with great joy we receive bookings for baptisms and weddings in our beautiful church and we look forward to welcoming all into our Christian family.

Julia also attended one of our ‘virtual’ PCC meetings and confirmed the process which we have to follow during our interregnum. In addition to helping find clergy cover for services, baptisms, weddings and funerals, Julia is supporting the churchwardens and the PCC, acting as a channel of communication with the Archdeacon and the Diocese. She explained that the diocese does not like to have long vacancies but there is a legal process which applies and that hopefully it should be possible to advertise the post, in line with this process later in the year.

The ‘Shaping for Mission’ team in the Deanery are putting together a vision and a plan for the area and we pray we may all continue to listen to God, to focus on Christ’s word and work.

We look forward to two events, the first being at 3pm on Sunday August 8, with the ‘Farewell to Maureen’ afternoon tea in the Village Hall. All are very welcome, so please do attend if you can.

The second is the joy and fun of the Scarecrow Festival, planned for the weekend of

September 24-26. Please do get involved, fill in a form, enjoy making a scarecrow, follow the ‘scarecrow trail’ and see what wonderful creations are around our beautiful village!

If you have not yet managed to return to worship in church, we hope to see you soon, there is plenty of space for you to be comfortable and safe. If you have concerns, do be reassured we will do everything we can to welcome you safely back.

The further easing of restrictions means we can look forward to seeing you all back in church where we can share our joy in worship together. However, most importantly as Christians we love all our neighbours and share with you concern and respect for all who are vulnerable.

We pray we will see you soon in Church, we miss you!

We pray also for everyone in our community and for everyone working with us and for us!

Take care and God Bless,

Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel
Churchwardens

Previous month – Next month – Monthly index ‘Churchwardens’ Chat’ We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens August 2021 Well, what a month it has been!
