{"id":8585,"date":"2021-08-16T11:27:27","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T11:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/?page_id=8585"},"modified":"2021-08-16T11:27:27","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T11:27:27","slug":"collect-and-readings-5th-september-2021","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-5th-september-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Collect and readings &#8211; 5th September 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunday 5th September &#8211; Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Almighty God,<br>whose only Son has opened for us<br>a new and living way into your presence:<br>give us pure hearts and steadfast wills<br>to worship you in spirit and in truth;<br>through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,<br>who is alive and reigns with you,<br>in the unity of the Holy Spirit,<br>one God, now and for ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First reading<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Isaiah 35.4\u20137a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>4<\/sup> Say to those who are of a fearful heart,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018Be strong, do not fear!<br>Here is your God.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He will come with vengeance,<br>with terrible recompense.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He will come and save you.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>5<\/sup> Then the eyes of the blind shall be&nbsp;opened,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the ears of the deaf unstopped;<br><sup>6<\/sup> then the lame shall leap like a&nbsp;deer,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy.<br>For waters shall break forth in the wilderness,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and streams in the desert;<br><sup>7<\/sup> the burning sand shall become a&nbsp;pool,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the thirsty ground springs of&nbsp;water;<br>the haunt of jackals shall become a&nbsp;swamp,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the grass shall become reeds and rushes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gospel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark 7.24\u201337<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>24<\/sup>&nbsp;From there he set out and went away to the region of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know he was there. Yet he could not escape notice, <sup>25<\/sup>but a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him, and she came and bowed down at his feet. <sup>26<\/sup>Now the woman was a Gentile, of Syrophoenician origin.
