Face coverings not only protect the wearer but also other people. It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church. So that those <\/strong><strong>who wish to ensure that they can maintain social distance feel comfortable social distancing must be maintained in the pews by the wall <\/strong><strong>in the South Aisle.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Services are no longer available online or on the phone line.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View\">View from the Pews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"160\" height=\"220\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/scarecrow-Chrissie.gif\" alt=\"Chrissie Ringrose\" class=\"wp-image-8709\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well \u201cCHARLIE HAS LANDED\u201d and by the time you are reading this the Scarecrow Festival will be well underway &#8230;.. there are 120 scarecrows on the three trails around the village &#8211; red, purple and blue &#8211; and we hope you have much enjoyment in going round and admiring them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/scarecrow-Charlie.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"160\" height=\"220\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/scarecrow-Charlie.gif\" alt=\"Charlie the scarecrow\" class=\"wp-image-8710\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the 5th Pattingham Scarecrow Festival and when we started back in 2011 our ultimate aim was \u201cto involve the village in a community event that was great fun for all, whilst at the same time raising funds for St.Chad\u2019s Church and other local projects\u201d.&nbsp; Over the last ten years we have done just that and raised over \u00a340,000 \u2013 the church porch has been much enhanced by the installation of glass doors and restored stonework, the school has benefitted from new computers for students and the entrance security gates, and a grant was given in 2013 towards new play equipment on the village playing fields.&nbsp;&nbsp; In 2021, if successful, we hope to be able to support the Playing Fields Adult Outdoor Gym Equipment project, along with a further grant to the School and add further funds to the St.Chad\u2019s Church project to modernise the West Door area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of this would have been possible without the village community \u2013 as has been written over many weeks in \u2018View from the Pew\u2019, we are so fortunate to live in a village where many folk willingly volunteer to bake cakes or give up some time to help, where there are many willing to donate to or sponsor the many aspects of setting up such a venture, or where there are so many inspired creators of scarecrows!&nbsp;&nbsp; Taking part in a community gives that community a beating heart, from which we all benefit.&nbsp;&nbsp; And it is no co-incidence that we hold the Scarecrow Festival over our traditional Harvest Festival weekend \u2013 a time of thanksgiving to God for all good things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this weekend we ask particularly that our village community be kind, be considerate, and be patient when welcoming our many visitors coming to see the Scarecrows&#8230;&#8230; but most of all we ask that you enjoy yourselves and be thankful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chrissie Ringrose<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chrissie \u2013 Mike \u2013 David \u2013 Iain \u2013 Clive&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211;&nbsp; Scarecrow Festival Steering Committee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Could you contribute a View from the Pews?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from all members of the congregation. Donations can be brought to church at any time when it is open until the evening service. Details of the items wanted are in previous issues of ChadNet and on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/harvest-2021\/\">website<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-26th-september-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist for the 17th Sunday after Trinity, which may not be used in the service, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"This_week\">This week<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The church will be open as it used to be before the pandemic every day. <\/strong>Look out for the &#8220;church open&#8221; sign outside the porch. Please observe the instructions in the notice on the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On Monday<\/strong> morning the <strong>school Harvest Service<\/strong> will be held in church. This year it is for pupils and staff only &#8211; parents and others should not attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Century Club<\/strong> draw will take place by Zoom on <strong>Monday<\/strong>. See <a href=\"#CC\">below<\/a> for the link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On Tuesday<\/strong> evening the <strong>Harvest Supper<\/strong> will be held at the Dartmouth Arms. Only those with tickets should attend and there are no more tickets available.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On Wednesday<\/strong> there will be a service of <strong>Holy Communion<\/strong> according to the Book of Common Prayer, led by Revd James Makepeace, in church at 10.00 am which will be followed by tea, coffee and cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Next_Sunday\">Sunday 3rd October &#8211; Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>There will be a Family Service <\/strong><strong>in church at 10 am. It will be led by Ken Scott with the theme &#8220;God always keeps His promises&#8221; and will be followed by Holy Communion for those who wish to stay. <\/strong><strong>Coffee (and tea and biscuits) will be available after the service.<\/strong> There will be a <strong>Service of Baptism<\/strong> in church at 3 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-3rd-october-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist for the 17th Sunday after Trinity, which may not be used in the service, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SC\">Scarecrow Festival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/header-e1507498945951.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"168\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/header-e1507498945951.gif\" alt=\"Scarecrow Festival\" class=\"wp-image-1188\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Scarecrow Festival continues until Sunday 26th September. It is open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0 TICKET\/TRAIL GUIDE which will be on sale at the desk in front of the Village Hall at a cost of \u00a33 per adult. Also on sale will be the very popular SCARECROW BADGE and the SCARECROW QUIZ. Both are firm favourites with the children and cost just \u00a31 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Refreshments, including filled rolls, homemade cake and drinks will be available at the rear car park of the Village Hall.
