Face coverings not only protect the wearer but also other people. It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church. So that those <\/strong><strong>who wish to ensure that they can maintain social distance feel comfortable social distancing must be maintained in the pews by the wall <\/strong><strong>in the South Aisle.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Services are no longer available online or on the phone line.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View\">View from the Pews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Moel_Famau.jpg\" alt=\"Mael Famau\" class=\"wp-image-8760\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills&#8212;-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Psalm 121 has always been a favourite of mine and it often comes into my mind when I look out of my front windows towards the Clee Hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having been brought up in North Wales, of course hills and mountains were a backdrop to my younger life and I am at my happiest and, perhaps, most peaceful when at the summit of a hill \u2014 huff and puff though I do to reach the top these days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area where I grew up was the Vale of Clwyd bordered by the Clwydian Range. Moel Famau, or Mother Hill,\u00a0 the highest of the hills, was easily recognised as it had a Jubilee Tower, now ruined, built in 1810 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of George III, silhouetted at the top. Moel Famau is 1818 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How high does a hill have to be before it is classed as a mountain? Opinions and definitions vary between 1000 and 2000 feet above sea level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you ever see a charming little film starring Hugh Grant called \u2018The Englishman who went up a hill but came down a mountain\u2019? In this film the locals of a Welsh village outwitted two cartographers who had come to downgrade their beloved mountain to hill status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hill and mountains feature prominently in the Bible. We think immediately of Mount Sinai, Mount Ararat, Calgary, and the Mount of Olives and verses that teach us that faith can move mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I was fortunate enough to go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with Revds James and Anna Makepeace I was very impressed by the topography of the country and the mountainous regions through which we travelled. The gifts from the school were particularly overwhelming, filling the children\u2019s area in church and the van which came to collect them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On behalf of the needy of Wolverhampton all at the Well are extremely grateful for your generosity and praise the Lord for his bountiful harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alan Smith<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SC\">Pattingham Scarecrow Festival 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Scarecrow-ThankYou_600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Scarecrow-ThankYou_600.jpg\" alt=\"Thank you\" class=\"wp-image-8761\" width=\"300\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Scarecrow-ThankYou_600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Scarecrow-ThankYou_600-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the 2021 Pattingham Scarecrow Festival had several constraints on it, including the hesitation of mixing in large crowds because of COVID and then the additional problem of the petrol shortage, the weather, as it has always been, was kind to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The support we have received over the years from the village, from sponsors, from our local farmers, and of course from all the Scarecrow makers has been tremendous and we thank you all for making this 5th Scarecrow Festival such a successful event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the attraction of 120 registered scarecrows scattered around the village, this helped to create a great community spirit, giving visitors much fun and freedom after months of restriction. The event also gave a welcome boost to village food and drink establishments after many months of poor trading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Festival Steering Committee is pleased to announce that the proceeds from the 2021 event totalled \u00a38990.49, a very satisfactory result which will support the Playing Fields Adult Outdoor Gym Equipment Project, St.Chad\u2019s Church (West End Door Project) and St.Chad\u2019s C of E (VC) First School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This time, the control of car parking was in the hands of the local branch of the Air Cadets who performed an excellent job of supervising the cars in an orderly manner on the field off the Patshull Road. As a mark of thanks to the cadets, a donation will be made to the branch together with goodies to thank the cadets individually.
