It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So that those who wish to ensure that they can maintain social distance feel comfortable social distancing must be maintained in the pews by the wall in the South Aisle.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"View\">View from the Pews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"252\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/mike-stirk_180x252.jpg\" alt=\"Mike Stirk\" class=\"wp-image-8904\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, on my way to the County Lane, usually with the intention of accessing the various major roads such as the A41 and M54, I pull in to allow an oncoming car on the narrow road on the top of Nurton Hill to pass by. When the car has gone by I occasionally pause for a few seconds to take in that most wonderful view from the highest point in our lovely parish. Here the ground undulates quite steeply downhill some two hundred feet to our lovely village surrounded by carefully tended farm land from all sides, interspersed with small blocks of mature woodland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/vfp84image_640x360.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/vfp84image_640x360.jpg\" alt=\"View from Nurton Hill\" class=\"wp-image-8905\" width=\"320\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/vfp84image_640x360.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/vfp84image_640x360-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The tall spire of our lovely church dominates the village from this view and I often think what wonderful foresight the Earl of Dartmouth had of financing the addition of this beautifully shaped spire on top of the existing building some hundred years or more ago. As the ground falls away again below the church glimpses of the spire can be seen all the way down to the county boundary and all the way up to Kingslow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t think there are many better aspects of our parish than this view from Nurton with the&nbsp; church dominating the horizon and sometimes the bells pealing to summon us to worship can be distinctively heard when a strong south west wind prevails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It reminds me that I must thank our Lord God for the wonderful parish and its people that my wife and I live in by going&nbsp; a little more often to that sacred place of worship &#8211; St Chad&#8217;s &#8211; our&nbsp; delightful and most welcoming church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mike Stirk<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contacts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We do not have a VIcar at the moment. Coffee (and tea and biscuits) will be available after the service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be the first Youth Service held in church since February last year. As the COP26 climate change conference is about to start in Glasgow the service will be about caring for God&#8217;s world. Please support our young people by attending this service if you can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>6.30pm<\/strong> the <strong>All Souls Memorial Service<\/strong> will be held in church. It will be led by Iain Coleman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pattinghamchurch.org.uk\/web\/services\/collects-and-readings\/collect-and-readings-31st-october-2021\/\">collect and readings<\/a> for the Eucharist, which would normally be on the pewsheet, are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"This_week\">This week<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The church will be open as it used to be before the pandemic every day. <\/strong>Look out for the &#8220;church open&#8221; sign outside the porch.
