Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 8th February 2022

The PCC’s meeting on 8th February was held in church. Among the items discussed were:

The relaxation of restrictions

With the movement out of the government’s Plan B we have been able to review the restrictions which have been in place in church which have helped to keep us all safe over the last two years or so.

Face coverings no longer need to be worn in church and the “track and trace” forms, which have not been used for some time, will no longer be available. The green gift aid envelopes will be available on the pews again – if they are properly completed we can get an extra 25 per cent of the donation from the government through the gift aid scheme.

We will continue to ask that social distancing be maintained in the pews by the wall of the South Aisle so that those who wish to sit apart can do so.

At the Communion service we will share the wine as well as the bread, although not in the way we have been used to. The priest will dip the bread in the wine before placing it in the communicant’s hand. Those who would prefer to receive bread only should say so.

Collections

We have decided that we will not reintroduce taking the collection during the service at any time. Those who wish to give should put their offering in the plate at the back of the church before or after the service.

Lots of people give through the Giving Direct scheme, bank standing orders or in other ways which do not involve putting money on the plate. If you would like to find out about any of those speak to a churchwarden or any member of the PCC: details can be found on the website.

Home Communion

We are continuing to make arrangements to be able to offer Communion at home for those who are unable to get to church. We are in the process of obtaining the appropriate authorisation and training for those who will be carrying out this ministry and hope to be able to announce the arrangements soon.

Church Fete

The church fete will take place on Saturday, July 16. This is later than usual but as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations will be taking place in the first weekend of June the PCC thought it would be better not to hold the fete only four weeks after that.

Anna Davies is again co-ordinating the arrangements for the fete.

PCC members

Members of the Parochial Church Council are: Philip Sims (chairman), Tony Ainsworth, Gordon Bramall, Carol Broxton, Geoffrey Dann, Henry Ibberson, Clive Pendrell, Ken Scott, Alan Smith and Dorothy Steel.
