Snippets from the PCC meeting – 23rd July 2019
Among the items discussed at the July meeting of the PCC were:
Accounts
We have finally received the approved accounts from the Independent Examiner. They are now available in church and on the website.
There will be a (hopefully) brief meeting after the morning service on 15th September when they can be discussed and formally received.
Harvest Supper at the Dartmouth Arms
To build on the success of the event last year, arrangements are in hand for a Harvest Supper at the Dartmouth Arms in Burnhill Green.
It will be on Monday 23rd September and admission will be by ticket, the charge for which will be donated to the Farming Community Network, which is a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times.
Ideas from Young Church
The Young Church group, which meets during the morning service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, has come up with a number of ideas which the PCC has considered.
Some of them might be described as “blue sky thinking” – or even total fantasy – such as a travelator up the church path for older people and a zip wire from the steeple.
Many of them, however, are ideas which may be possible – such as using the church for various sorts of community events – and we will be looking into those.
Bells Run
Planning is well underway for the Bells Run which is being held on 6th October.
This is the last Bells Run and the profits will be shared between Acorns and St Chad’s School.
We hope that this will be successful, both as a community event and in raising much needed funds for both of those organisations; and to that end some money will be spent on advertising it to seek to attract as many runners as possible.
