‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

December 2021

Although we do have very dark evenings now, Advent and Christmas is a time of light; we have our Advent wreath and of course our Christingle service, with the candles in each representing the light of Christ coming into the world.

Our challenge as Christians is to recognise the light, give thanks for it and to share it with joy!

Many have found they are able to return to church and we hope very much to see you at our services this month. Please check the magazine and updates on ChadNet for our service details.

Perhaps you can plan to attend our Christmas Carol service, Christingle service or Youth service. On Christmas Eve we have our Crib service and late-night Christmas Holy Communion and although we have not yet finalised all the details for our Christmas Day service we look forward to welcoming you.

We wish you well in your Advent journey; this time of preparation helps us to think about where we have been on our personal spiritual path, where we are now and where we would like to be. Everyone is different but for all of us part of the answer is let us be closer to Christ.

The ‘Shaping for Mission’ journey has reached the important stage to work more closelywith the neighbouring churches in our deanery, to share together and rejoice in the light of our Lord.

Our Eco-church journey continues: we are inspired by the November Youth service and the reminders from Cop26 to accept our responsibilities to love and care for God’s creation.

As we proceed to remember the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, we pray you will join us in worship and praise!

We wish you all a peaceful Christmas with the light and joy of Christ in your hearts.
