‘Churchwardens’ Chat’
We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens
February 2025
0 Thou who changest not, abide with me …
Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847), written in 1847
There are times when all we can see is ‘change and decay’, but we are urged to remember that Our Lord does not change but is a constant strength, support and presence for us all.
This helps sustain us when we are troubled, working our way ~ through grief or just struggling ii to cope with the many demands we feel upon us.
Please remember, we offer Home Communion; if you know of anyone who would like to receive Home Communion please get in touch.
We continue to remember the people suffering in the many wars and zones of conflict around the world. Join us to pray for the people of Ukraine and for all affected by violence and aggression worldwide, at our Prayers for Peace (Tuesdays 6pm).
At the time of writing, we are yet to hear whether there has been a response to our advertisement for a vicar and we will update you next month.
Many thanks to those who left us suggestions and comments for our annual survey of 2024. It is very important you give us feedback; the PCC will consider all suggestions and consider changes when we next forward-plan.
We welcome you to our Wednesday morning mid-week service, followed by a hot drink and cake or you can book a place at our monthly Who’s for Lunch? to be held on Wednesday, February 26. Details are also on ChadNet and the church website.
If you have not yet tried it, come to Shower Singers in church Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm – with the exception this month of February 19 -for some fun, friendship and to join in singing. Or, of course, you can just sit and listen to music from across the decades (requests welcomed)!
God Bless,
Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel,
Churchwardens
