‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

Be still for the presence of the Lord, The Holy One is here …
David J Evans, born 1959

We have a new booklet of short, beautifully written, easy to read powerful prayers available.

The Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt Rev Michael Ipgrave, wrote the ‘Welcome’ for the new book of prayers for dementia friendly churches and you can view a copy on the table at the back of our church, next to our Dementia Friendly resources box.

The Bishop wrote: “Words may be forgotten, memories fail, thoughts be confused, but the Spirit always comes to us in our weakness to help us pray … “

Take a little time to pray and know God is with us on our journey. Have a look and if you would like your own copy of this lovely booklet, Diocese of Lichfield Book of Prayers, please contact Tracey Williams or Dorothy Steel and an order will be placed. It costs £2 per copy.

We are delighted to invite you to the Licensing service for our new Vicar, the Rev Merry Smith, at 4pm on Sunday, August 10. This will be a lovely service, bringing family and friends together, so arrive early! After the service light refreshments will be served in the Village Hall.

As Fete Day approaches, we thank everyone who has offered to help in preparation for the event and on the day itself. Make sure you have the date in your diary, come along and enjoy yourself. There are lots of new surprises this year, something for all the family, fun for children and amazing stalls. So, whether you are looking to refresh your garden plants, or for somewhere to take the children for summer fun come along! Raffle tickets are available for purchase before the fete and on the day.

The summer is an exciting time with tickets on sale for the Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir concert, in church on the evening of Saturday, July 12.

The Scarecrow Festival is the weekend of September 26-28 and our thanks to the many volunteers who have offered their support. Tickets for the Saturday evening Brass Band concert are now available for purchase from Alan Smith, Philip Sims, Dorothy Steel or Clive Pendrell.

After Sunday and Wednesday morning services, we serve tea and coffee, it is a great time for a chat and to meet other people, so do come along.

Home Holy Communion is available and if you or someone you know wishes to receive it, do please get in touch.

God Bless,

Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel,
Churchwardens
