One more step along the world I go…..” (Sydney Carter)

Everyone experiences ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ in life and we will never all agree on everything as travel through life’s journey.

Whatever our differences, we remember we are all God’s children and each one of us is blessed with gifts we can share; to help make the lives of others, our brothers and sisters around the world, brighter, more hopeful and altogether better.

The Bible tells us about ‘gifts’ we may receive – “ . . . Faith, Hope and Love; and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians, Chapter 13 verse 13). Loving our family or a neighbour, whom we respect, admire and like, feels so good; but it is so much harder to show love to someone for whom we have less respect, disagree with their views or even rather dislike.

This is one of the challenges we are sent, which God will help us face; we think and pray about how Ukrainian and Russian people will need God’s help to heal the pain and suffering between them, when one day they try to ‘love’ their neighbours again.

Here in Pattingham as we face the ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ and challenges which change can bring, we pray God will help us to find His light and guidance in all would do.

We thank all members of the PCC for sharing your gifts to work with us, helping to do God’s work.

Jubilee Weekend is upon us so please support all our village businesses, who have put so much work into making the weekend special. And do join us in Church on Sunday 5th June for our thanksgiving service: bring all the family for an hour of joyful praise!

The service will focus on the life and work of our Queen, attending this Jubilee Service will be a memorable occasion which will remain a memory throughout life. Please do join us, there are some wonderful pictures detailing the life of our Queen which will be shown.

We pray for God to help us to be thankful for the gifts and blessings bestowed on us and to know when, how and where to share these with others.

God Bless and take care,

News about a new Vicar – please read the update from Philip Sims PCC Chairman:

On Tuesday 3 May the PCC met the Archdeacon and Rural Dean to discuss the issue of Pattingham’s vicar.

These discussions were positive and helpful and it was reassuring to hear that, despite the restrictions facing so many churches within the Church of England, there is every intention to appoint a Vicar in Pattingham which, as we know, is a half post.

The challenge for us is how we can attract the best candidate and, in order to achieve that, it is almost inevitable that we will also embrace the need for some cooperation with other local churches.

Again, the detail of that is still to be formulated and further discussions will be required before we can advertise the post.

It is a sad fact that nowadays the recruitment process seems interminable but be assured that we will maintain the pressure to appoint a new Leader to our Church as soon as is practicable.
