‘Churchwardens’ Chat’
We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens
September 2024
All is safely gathered in …
Henry Alford 1844
We have seen our farmers working hard over the last few weeks, bringing in the harvest. This year we are asking everyone attending our Harvest Service on Sunday September 29 to bring an item as a harvest contribution up to the Altar, to be received and blessed.
All contributions will be delivered to The Well, a Christian-run foodbank in Wolverhampton, which provides support for people in our area as well as across Wolverhampton. We pray and give thanks for the work the organisation does.
Our current advertisement for a new vicar runs until September 5; we shall update you all on progress.
We are also advertising for a Youth and Family Worker: does this role appeal to you? If so, please do get in touch. The post is flexible and could fit in with your other work/commitments. If you feel moved to support the young people in our community and would like to explore this opportunity let’s have a chat about it.
Thank you to everyone who responded to our call for volunteers to help with the beautiful flowers in church. It is not too late to get in touch if you feel you could ‘have a go’! Full support given: contact Dorothy, Clive or Margaret Harris for more details.
If you or someone you know would like to receive Home Communion, we are happy to arrange it. Do contact Dorothy, Clive or Ken Scott.
Please join us to support Ukraine with our prayers. We meet for 15 minutes of Prayers for Peace every Tuesday evening at 6pm, to pray for the people of Ukraine and for peace in all zones of war and conflict.
Finally, two dates for your diary: as planning continues for our community dementia information day on Saturday, October 12 in the Village Hall. A free event for the whole Community, this is where you can learn more about dementia, have a cup of tea, meet people and find information about where support can be gained. Further details will appear in ChadNet and next month’s magazine but please contact Tracey Williams who is our parish safeguarding officer and our dementia-friendly church co-ordinator if you need any further information or help.
The second date to remember is Wednesday, September 4, at 6pm in church when (thanks to Alix and Keith) Shower Singers resumes!
We send our prayers and best wishes to all young people in our community who have recently received GCSE or A-level results. We wish you well as you take the next steps Forward: we know God has a plan for you, have fun, stay safe and follow your dreams!
God Bless,
Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel,
Churchwardens
