Phew! What a sweat – but, thank you, it was all worth it
Well this year’s fete proved to be a little different to say the least! Thanks to the sterling efforts of our England football team we found ourselves in the tricky situation of going ahead as planned or rearranging to a 12 noon start to accommodate the match. As you know, we chose the latter as we felt – I believe rightly – that we would simply have had no fete if we had stuck to 2pm. We had very little notice in which to get it moved, so it meant we lost a couple of things; I do apologise to anyone who hadn’t heard of the change but hopefully you can understand the reason.
Most of all I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who adjusted their diaries and helped us make the change. Everyone who helped in any way is worthy of thanks but a particular mention for our farmers who worked harder than ever to get it set up in time and, packed it all away quickly – we simply couldn’t have done it without them! Thankfully we still had a really successful fete, which was great and quite surprising, considering the football and the very hot weather: a double whammy! We were relieved that England managed to win that game too, so a successful afternoon all round.
We heard from some who thought the earlier start was actually better for the Fete. What do you think? The fete is for everyone, so if you have any comments, questions or feedback regarding this year’s fete please do let me, or a member of the PCC, know and we’ll consider those next year.
A date for your diary: next year’s fete will be on Saturday, July 6. At least there will not be a football World Cup then!

The fete raised just over £4,000 after expenses.
