Welcome to Martin Fox

Martin takes over as organist and choir leader

The PCC and everyone at St, Chad’s are delighted to welcome our new organist and choir leader Martin Fox. He takes over from Greg Lewin, who retired last September.

Martin, together with Miles Swinden has covered our services since and his appointment has now been confirmed.

Martin lives in Merry Hill, Wolverhampton. His wife Cath, who plays flute, saxophone and bass guitar, retired from an admin role in the Music
Service, Wolverhampton. She taught flute for a number of years.

The couple have two children. Laura is married to James and lives in Codsall and they have a daughter, Marie, who will be one in February.

Their son Dan, had a brain injury in 2019 but is making good progress. He lives in supported living accommodation in Tipton.

Martin was previously the Worship Leader at St Joseph’s Church, Merry Hill, where he and his family had worshipped since 1993. He has played at a number of other churches over the years, providing cover or playing for weddings and funerals.

He is also the accompanist for the Penn Singers, as well as the Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir and until recently, was a piano teacher. He has also played in a tribute band, but stepped down from this at the end of last year.

“I am now looking forward to the new challenges of being organist and choir leader at St Chad’s, having helped out a few years ago when cover was needed,” he said.

“Cath and I have been made to feel very weIcome at the Church and we already feel part of the St Chad’s family.”

The PCC has expressed thanks to John Fellows, who covered a number of key services and taking choir practices before Martin’s appointment.
