ChadNet - the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull

Welcome to this week’s edition of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.

In this week’s ChadNet:

View from the Pews

Philip Sims

After four years of being in interregnum, several attempts at advertising the role of Vicar and not being able to generate any response, one false alarm when we thought we might have someone suitable, we can now finally say that our prayers have been answered!

Not only has Rev. Merry Smith accepted the position but she has moved into the newly refurbished vicarage and is ready to go. Having worked closely with her over these past few weeks I can say that she has been a delight and at our recent fete we saw how she, her husband Lee and daughter Beatrice responded to our welcome and readily interacted with everyone they came into contact with. I think Merry will be good for our Church and will add enormously to our community.

There is one final hurdle and that is the Service of Collation and Induction when Merry will finally be appointed as our Vicar. This is being led by the Bishop of Wolverhampton and is to be held on Sunday 10 August 2025 at 4pm. We are already aware that Merry will be supported by a good contingent from her previous parish of Newport with Longford and Chetwynd, along with her family and friends. I hope therefore that our own parish will respond enthusiastically and come out in numbers to attend this celebration and welcome Merry to the role. If you are reading this then I hope that you will not only be able to join us, but also please encourage your friends and neighbours to come along too.

This service demands a great deal of preparation and this will be evident on the day. Please come along and enjoy it. In addition to the service, everyone is invited to the Village Hall afterwards for refreshments and a celebratory drink. This should all make for a memorable day and I do hope that our wider community will come and celebrate with us. After all, God has answered our prayers, we have a new spiritual leader and one who I am sure will help to see our Church thrive and grow.

Dementia Friendly Church

Weekly Prayer

Becoming Dementia Friendly Church 2024-25

For carers in this world,
young and old,
whose love, time & freedom,
sometimes childhood is given
sacrificially for one who is in need.
May they know your blessing, through good
days and bad, and receive as they are given
love in good measure,
flowing as a gentle river
into their hearts and lives.
Amen

(Faith & Worship)

If you would like to suggest (or write) a prayer for inclusion in this series please let Tracey Williams, our Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator, know.
