Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 30th August 2022
The PCC’s meeting on 30th August was held in church. Among the items discussed were:
Christmas Tree Festival
Planning for the Christmas Tree Festival has begun. It will be held from Friday December 16 to Sunday December 18.
Further details will be available in due course. There will be a concert by the Brewood Singers on Saturday December 17 at which mulled wine and mince pies will be available. Tickets will be on sale soon.
Holiday Club
This year’s St Chad’s Church Holiday Club took place at the Kingswood Centre on three days in August. It was a great success with 32 children attending. Most of those children took part in the Family Service in church on September 4.
Pictures from the club are on pages 11 and 12 of the magazine.
The PCC now needs to consider how to build on the interest shown by these families and will be holding an additional meeting in October which will be devoted to developing our links with children and families.
Readers
Iain Coleman has now been admitted as a Reader by the Bishop of Lichfield and licensed to this parish. A story and a picture from Iain’s big day is on page 6 of the magazine
Readers are lay people who have been selected, trained and licensed by the Church of England to teach the faith, enable mission and to be leaders in church and in society.
Iain has also become a member of the PCC. We welcome Iain to his new role as a Reader and his return to the PCC.
Ken Scott retired as a Reader at the end of April 2021 when he chose not to renew his Permission to Officiate. He has been encouraged by the diocese to apply to reactivate this Permission and has agreed to do so. It has been granted by the Bishop until the end of April 2023 so that he can resume his duties as a Reader until then.
PCC members
The members of the PCC are: Philip Sims (Chairman), Tony Ainsworth, Gordon Bramall, Iain
Coleman, Geoffrey Dann, Henry Ibberson, Clive Pendrell, Ken Scott, Alan Smith, Dorothy
Steel and Tracey Williams.
