View from the Pews

The Well food bank is extremely grateful for all donations it continues to receive from St Chad’s. The following email, received last month, shows that toiletries are needed as much as food donations.
Alan Smith
The Impact of a Toothbrush
“Thought I’d just like to give you some feedback from a single male who received a food parcel last week from The Well. He rang me just after he had received his parcel, and it was quite an emotional call for both myself and my client.
He rang me to say thank you, thank you, thank you so much he was telling me about the contents of his food parcel. He said I can’t believe I’ve got a toothbrush, mine had only got a few bristles left on it so thank you thank you thank you.
Something as simple as a toothbrush had made such an impact upon this client. He said he felt like someone actually cared.
Keep on doing what you are doing guys and share with your volunteers or newsletter etc. this simple feedback. Sometimes we forget it is the little things that can mean such a lot to a person”
(Social Prescribing Link Worker)
Could you ask your dental practice for a donation of toothbrush/toothpaste samples, as in those given to us by Treetops Dental Surgery in the photo.
From Gary & Caroline
120,000!
Last month we passed 120,000 service users directly supported in response to a referral to The Well.
As each parcel provides at least 10 meals per person, this equates to one million, two hundred thousand meals, plus the additional toiletries, nappies, pet food and small essential electrical items given when required with the parcels.
We are in awe at how God has grown this ministry from a small pink collection box in one church nearly eighteen years ago.
We could not have got here without the support of literally countless individuals, churches, schools, businesses and organisations.
We continually thank God for each one.
If you can help us to continue to support so many in need, please look at the Connect page on our website <https://www.thewellwolverhampton.co.uk/six-ways-to-connect>.
Would you like to write a View from the Pews?
We welcome contributions for View from the Pews from anyone who would like to write one. It does not need to be on any particular subject. If you would like to write one please send it to or contact Henry Ibberson ( / 01902 701136).

We do not have a Vicar at the moment. For matters which would normally be dealt with by the Vicar the churchwardens are the first point of contact. The Vicarage phone (01902 700257) is redirected to the churchwardens. When they are not available a message can be left on the voicemail and they will return the call when they are available. Emails to will be received by the churchwardens.
Contact details for church officers can be found on the Contacts page of the church website. You can use if you are nore sure who to contact and the churchwardens will be able to forward it to the correct person.
Notices, which should be received by Friday afternoon for inclusion in that week’s ChadNet, and other communications in relation to ChadNet should be sent to
Articles for the magazine should be sent to (note – this is different to the address used before November 2020 which no longer works).

Ringing for Peace
On Thursday to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day bellringers up and down the country were encouraged to Ring for Peace at 6.30 pm or other convenient time.
Our bellringers, with the assistance of two ringers from St Peter’s, Wolverhampton, rang the bells of St Chad’s Church at 6. 30 pm. If you heard the bells ringing and wondered why you now know.
Village Fete – Saturday 6th July, midday onwards
Tempus fugit!
Preparations for our fete on 6 July are progressing well, however we need help, particularly with the following:
VOLUNTEERS TO MAN STALLS. It doesn’t have to be all afternoon, but please can you spare an hour or two on the day?
VOLUNTEERS TO MAN THE GATES. Stints of 12-2 and 2-4
RAFFLE TICKETS. Donors have been very generous (including cash prizes of £100 and £50) but we need to get them out there. Please can you sell them to family, friends, anybody you can think of. Books of tickets are available from Dorothy, Graham, Alan or any PCC member……and don’t forget to buy your own!!
BOTTLE STALL. A real money spinner over the years. Please can you get the word out to all you know to help with a bottle or two and bring them to the back of the church. If there are too many to carry we will happily collect!
They don’t all need to be expensive bottles of wine etc, water, squash, pop are just as valuable to us.
GENERATOR. Ideally we would like to have the PA in a more central position this year, also to avoid the risk of tripping over wires etc. Do you know of anybody who can loan us a generator?
COMPETITIONS. The entry date has been extended so please get your entries in to Alix and Keith or the collection points.
If you’d like to be involved, please do email Alix Jones on or Keith Eden on
The Well – the Wolverhampton Food Bank
The Well continues to need our donations and prayers.
The box remains at the rear of the church for donations of food and toiletries and the wishing well for donations of cash. Foreign coins can be put into the wishing well (in a separate bag please) and they will also go to help the needy in Wolverhampton.
Thank you
Dementia Friendly Church
Weekly Prayer

Be close to those who,
Growing old, are afraid
of what the future holds.
Grant them the strength
for daily tasks, and more,
a joy of life that can rise
above its aches and pains,
and by your Holy Spirit
become a daily blessing
to all who they shall meet.
Amen.
(Faith & Worship John Birch)
If you would like to suggest (or write) a prayer for inclusion in this series please let Tracey Williams, our Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator, know.
