View from the Pews

I am pleased to announce we are now entering into our second year as a Dementia Friendly Church. Our new certificate is now up on the notice board and also on the website. As always there are three actions to complete.
Please make a note in your diaries for Saturday 12th October 2024. We will be hosting at the Village Hall a Dementia Awareness Introduction session for all in the Trysull Deanery. Everyone is welcome. Contact details to book your free place for anyone from our church is via myself, which can be done by email or 07804 039330 (this is purely for numbers and refreshments). Details will be advertised on the notice board. I do hope you will come along.
I will also be arranging a session about the history of St. Chad’s Church, the stained glass windows and Pattingham itself. How it was and how it is now. So anyone with old photos would be gratefully received (returned of course). This allows individuals to reminisce. It will be held within the church with refreshments on a date to be arranged.
The third action is to Share A Prayer (this has already been submitted) and provide prayer cards for individuals to take home which is in progress.
Sunday 7th July is my second Dementia Themed Service. I will utilise parts of a service called “Boats & Staying Afloat” which is by Sarah Thorpe, the Dementia Enabler for the Diocese. Therefore, that is the theme. Please bring a boat – this may be a picture, toy boat or something from a boat. We will be discussing any stories about our experience with boats and what we do in life to keep ourselves afloat at difficult times. Who do we rely on?
We may not have a resident “Captain” at St Chad’s at present, but we are blessed by all the visiting “Captains” that have supported us and guided us, “the crew” of our church, on a steady course throughout our interregnum.
God Bless all who enter our church doors, a safe haven for everyone.
Tracey Williams
Would you like to write a View from the Pews?

- Food & drink

- Several craft stalls selling all sorts of different gifts and items
- Pattingham vineyard will be there selling their wine, as well as supplying the sparkling wine for the Pimms & Pattingham Fizz stall
- Side stalls & games with prizes to be won
- Football tournament
- Beat The Keeper & Kick The Crossbar challenges – medals to be won!

Each token is worth £1 and can be spent on any of the games stalls. The Bucking Pig will only take tokens – 3 tokens per ride, all available to buy at the gate.

It promises to be a wonderful afternoon so see you there!

Weekly Prayer

For carers in this world,
young and old,
whose love, time & freedom,
sometimes childhood is given
sacrificially for one who is in need.
May they know your blessing, through good
days and bad, and receive as they are given
love in good measure,
flowing as a gentle river
into their hearts & lives.
Amen
(Faith & Worship)
If you would like to suggest (or write) a prayer for inclusion in this series please let Tracey Williams, our Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator, know.
