Snowdrops
by Pattingham Anonymous
Snowdrops are flimsy, timid and shy:
They hang their heads down seeming almost to cry:
And yet those frail flowers are first to appear
in the race towards Springtime of every New Year.
Pushing themselves through the hard cold ground,
their buds bring huge joy to those all around.
Their strength, never visible, outshines the rest
who stay below ground ‘till conditions are best.
The Lord who makes snowdrops, loves us weak ones too,
And gives us the strength hard ground to push through.
He gives us the trials that will test us, and show
where we’re strong, pushing upwards, enabled to grow.,
People will wonder how we weak ones get through
and say “How I wish I could be more like you”.
But I’ll never be worthy or think that I’m strong.
Jesus walked with me – it was him all along!

Dementia Friendly Church
Weekly Prayer

God of Laughter
I thank you that a diagnosis of dementia is not one of instant tragedy. I bless you for all the happy times we have shared in the past. Let me bring them to life again for the one I love. Let me create new days of enjoyment.
Give me the generosity of heart to invite others into our situation. Let the two of us show them that it is possible to live happily with dementia. Let them hear us laugh together.
Ever-patient Father, may forgetfulness and failings not be a cause for censure but for affectionate tolerance. We both have a lot of adjusting to do, but with your grace we can do this together.
You offer us boundless love. Let the one I care for be assured of my love and acceptance. Grant us more good days together.
Laugh with us.
Amen
(Prayers for Dementia and how to live well with it. Fay Sampson)
If you would like to suggest (or write) a prayer for inclusion in this series please let Tracey Williams, our Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator, know.
