ChadNet - the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull

Welcome to this week’s edition of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.

In this week’s ChadNet:

View from the Pews

Alan Smith

Join the Fast for Gaza

We have all witnessed the horrifying scenes in Gaza. Death and destruction rain down on millions of innocent civilians. Whatever the original causes of the war there can be no excuse for this level of brutality, the vast majority just wanting to get on with their lives in peace. The inhumane blockade of aid by Israel is causing famine and suffering on an unimaginable scale with people queuing for hours for a bag of flour.

The UK government is failing to meet its obligation towards Palestinians in Gaza. After more than 18 months of military bombardment, mass displacement, at least 50,000 killed and around three quarters of homes and other buildings destroyed, Palestinians are now burying their children who are dying from hunger.

Fast for Gaza is a simple but powerful global campaign, going hungry in solidarity with thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza at risk of dying from starvation.

We can all join the campaign by:

It doesn’t have to be a full 24 hours, maybe a missed meal or two. Just remember to drink plenty of (warm) water.

Most importantly we can pray:

Lord, hear our prayers for peace in the Middle East,
May all people in the region be protected, safe from harm,
We pray that this crisis will end now, with no further loss of life,
May the injured and distressed know your healing presence.
May the powerful and the decision-makers follow the paths of justice, mercy and peace,
We pray for recognition of the dignity and value of every life,
May the clamour of violence cease,
Replaced by the beating of swords into ploughshares.
We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen

Dementia Friendly Church

Weekly Prayer

Becoming Dementia Friendly Church 2024-25

Memory fades and recollections become hazy clouds,
Fading outlines of strangers` faces and forgotten places.
Even the familiar, loved ones and names that once tripped lightly off the tongue cause confusion, in what seems a cruel
dismantling of a life once lived.
Compassionate God, for all who live in fear of what they might become, and those already walking down this lonely road we call dementia, grant them peace.
May each moment, however brief be filled with joy not sorrow.
Amen

If you would like to suggest (or write) a prayer for inclusion in this series please let Tracey Williams, our Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator, know.
