View from the Pews

Many have asked to have the words of the anthem the Choir sang on Remembrance Sunday. Remembrance is with us always and I wrote this poem with that in mind adapting it to suit the music we chose for that day.
Lost in a War – we remember them
Lost in a war… but cherished evermore ….
Bravely fought in battle …
Heroes all, ready at the call.
OH WHAT VALOUR, YOUR VOICES RAISE …
With grateful thanks, to honour, remember the sacrifices made.
SALUTE IN GLORY, RINGOUT IN TRIBUTE ….
Of these moments in young lives…what loss!
But still their candles burn, their lights shine on…
And their noble deeds remind us …
Of the suffering in wars, in all conflict,
The futility ….
We pray that peace may reign in all the world again.
That nations live in friendship, without pain …
AND ALL THAT GALLANTRY …
WAS NOT IN VAIN.
John Fellows

easyfundraising
Would you like the church to get money when you shop online at no cost to you?
Would you like the church to get £2 simply for signing up?
easyfundraising is a way to raise money for the church when making purchases online from a number of major retailers. The amounts which the retailers donate vary but are often 1% or more. To participate you need to download their app or register online. Until the end of this month they will donate £2 to the church for each new user who downloads the app and registers to support the church.
To download the app visit <www.easyfundraising.org.uk/easyfundraising-app> and you will then need to select the cause to support. If you search for “Pattingham” you will find St Chad’s Church among others. If you don’t want to use the app you can simply go to the website at <www.easyfundraising.org.uk>.
When you are transferred to the retailer’s website you shop as normal, logging in if necessary. Also, you don’t lose any retailer benefits from loyalty schemes.
Graham Tritton and Geoffrey Dann are using this already and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The Well – the Wolverhampton Food Bank
The Well continues to need our donations and prayers. The box remains at the rear of the church for donations of food and toiletries and the wishing well for donations of cash.
Reverse Advent Calendar
The Well’s annual Reverse Advent Calendar is back. The idea is really simple – put the item on the calendar into a box/bag each day in December leading up to Christmas, then donate it to the Well food bank. Please leave it at the back of the church or, if collection is required, contact Alan Smith on 07757 688518.
The items on the calendar for this week are:
- Monday 1st December – UHTmilk
- Tuesday 2nd December – shampoo
- Wednesday 3rd December – tea
- Thursday 4th December – jam
- Friday 5th December – tinned carrots
- Saturday 6th December – UHT fruit juice
- Sunday 7th December – tooth paste
Dementia Friendly Church
Weekly Prayer
Gracious God, full of love and mercy, we come to you today in search of peace. Lord, only you know the intricate workings of our minds and bodies, for you created them. We ask for understanding of our loved ones’ behaviours as the are continually changed by dementia. Lord please give us wisdom about how to relate to them and best serve them. Show us resources to help us on this journey. Please help us remember that our loved cannot control how they behave. Give us patience when dealing with them. Give us strength when we are tired. Please fill us with the fruit of your spirit so that we can love them with your love and display kindness, goodness and gentleness.
Amen
