ChadNet - the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull

Welcome to this week’s edition of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.

In this week’s ChadNet:

View from the Pews

Jill Parker

Life!

Many people feel the pressure to advertise they lead a happy life, with Social Media and adverts telling us so much emphasis on personal happiness. Sadness isn’t a wonderful feeling, but it is important. Whilst perusing a life of happiness is admirable, we must be realistic and recognise sometimes the unexpected happens.

How often do we look at people and make assumptions? It’s not what we look like on the outside, but what is going on inside. Everyone copes with adversity in different ways, but it is something we all experience. Many may have heard about the difference between an oak and a palm tree. The oak tree looks strong and stoic but sometimes breaks in a storm, while the palm tree is likely to bend backwards and forwards as it is more flexible and less likely to break. Which are you like?

When the course of your life isn’t as you envisaged, with storms and pressures, having Faith you know you are never alone. Jeremiah 29;11 ‘ For I know the plans I have for you ‘ declares the Lord- plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

When we are together in church we are probably there for different reasons. The styles of worship can vary but we are there in fellowship supporting each other and hymns unite us, with words such as:
‘Do not be afraid for I have redeemed you ,
I have called you by your name,
You are mine’

Come and join us! We pray that we are like both trees, able to weather anything life throws at us in our own way but relying on our roots of Faith. Our plan isn’t always God’s.

Dear Mary & the Parishioners of St Chad’s Church
On behalf of the Razom Ukrainian Welcome Centre, I would like to thank you for your generous donation of fresh vegetables, food, homewares, medicines, sweets, clothes, ladies & children’s shoes to our free shop for Ukrainian refugees. We have a dedicated bank account (sort code: 20-97-90 account no: 33297012) if anyone you know would like to make a monetary donation.

Dementia Friendly Church

Weekly Prayer

Becoming Dementia Friendly Church

Shepherd of my path, so I have dementia.
Give me grace to accept this as part of the pattern of my life and that of others.
May I enjoy the present moment and all the life I have yet to live.
Grant me humility to accept the assistance I will need.
I give you gratitude for all those I am finding who so readily offer that help.
Lord, you walked an unwelcome path you feared into a dark unknown.
It took greater courage than mine to do that willingly.
In my darkening path, take me by the hand and share your courage with me.
Amen

(Prayers for Dementia, and how to live it well. Fay Sampson)

If you would like to suggest (or write) a prayer for inclusion in this series please let Tracey Williams, our Dementia Friendly Church Co-ordinator, know.
